2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 77ships (2154) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 16, 2013
25 cl. bottle @ home. From a local Carrefour. No BBF. Finally got around to trying this one. The “abbey” beer produced by Alken-Maes. Priced cheaper than other beers aiming for the same market @ supermarket – possibly / likely aiming @ that market. The cheaper price is negligible probably keeping in mind that this is a 25 cl. Chestnut, mahogany cough syrup amber, quickly gone light beige head. Nose is caramel syrup, light alcohol, little smell, nuts, syrup & herbs. Taste is sweet caramel syrup, cough syrup, sweet herbs, candy sugar, chestnut, lots of syrup added, sweet metal, white sugar alcohol burns in the throat. Light, overly carbonated body. The added syrup or what feels like that covers the base which is appears to be similar to the blond which was dreadful. It is drinkable now but the alcohol still burns in the throat. More like a doppelbock than a dubbel. Oh dear,… What these macro’s make.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 MrW (221) - Londerzeel, BELGIUM - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle 33cl.
Sweet aroma, caramel, toffee, somewhere a fresh herb, chocolat.
Redbrown colour, off-white head, fading, some sparkling.
Loads of caramel in the taste. Sweet, dark fruit.
Sticky, long nice sweetness, some fizzyness.
Ok beer, but a bit too monotone imo.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ruigo (274) - PORTUGAL - APR 11, 2013
It pours a lively, high carbonated brownish and with a thick head. A very nice beer, much better than sister blonde.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Douberd (617) - NETHERLANDS - APR 1, 2013
250 ml bottle at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 7%
I was looking for something to finish the night as it is quite late and I was playing video games untill now. I chose this mostly because of its small size.
It pours a nice chestnut brown colour beer, with one finger of beige head. Good retention, not much lacing left on the glass.
Aroma is quite yeasty, a lot malty too. Some light traces of the alcohol can be found lingering on the background. Not a very nice aroma.
Taste is much better. Mildly sweet and malty, some caramel, a bit fruity and acidic as well. Nice one,
Medium thickness on the body, average carbonation. Nice dryness on the palate.
Overall, good dubbel, my only objection is about the aroma. Other than that, decent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kosmokrator (289) - ITALY - MAR 14, 2013
Discreta.
