MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAY 4, 2005
(bottle) Red to amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is quite musty, vinous and a bit sour. Sweetish flavour, medium bodied, soft carbonated. The taste is malty, slightly fruity with dry plums, a bit sour (vinegar), but also sweet, which is all well-balanced and makes this beer an experience. The high ABV is not detectable.

Bottle. A sweet dried fruit aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Nice complex flavor - raisin/plum jam and molasses. No bitterness or nasty sweetness to the beer.

Bottle. Weak malty, sherryish aroma. Brown colour. Unstable light brown head. Dark malt flavour, a bit like Vitamalt. Øllebrød flavour notes and mouthfeel. Sweet finish.

sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 15, 2005
(Bottled) Very dark amber / brown color with a medium, beige and lacy head. Sweetish aroma of raisins, malt and some salty soy-sauce sourness. Sweetish, toffee-malty flavor with salty rye pudding hints. Medium-bodied, slightly sugary palate with balanced carbonation. A not very full-bodied, quite straightforward dubbel - but with some interesting qualities.

Bottle: Dark red brown with a foamy head that quickly disappears. Bitter chocolate, malty, sweet smells. Taste is bittersweet with notes of dark fruits and noticeable traces of it’s 7% alcohol content. From mid bottle on the taste is much lighter and less complex. I prefer the blonde Ciney.

Nice chesnut color with a creamy beige head. Smooth malty aroma’s with hints of dark malts, roasted nuts, brown sugar, wood and cigarcase. Full round taste with a good nutty accent and a faint fruityness that gives it balance. In the afthertaste soft malts and a little chcolate bitterness in the end.

Nice looking dark Belgian beer with a very fruity aroma, and a very fruity, slightly fizzy strawberry flavour. Overall a beautifully palatable and satisfying beer.
