4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 caesar (3748) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 18, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2003 RerateFrom tap in Kafe Belgie very good double. Dark brown appearance, with lasting head. Spicy and malty aroma were much more present. Soft malty taste, spicy on the tongue. From tap it is definitely better than out of a bottle.
Original rateNice double. Clear dark-brown color. Sweet (but definitely not sweeter than Grimbergen) and malty. A bit flaw.

Royal red-brown colour with quickly disippating fine head. Some interesting floral and faint burnt sugar characters to the aroma. Moderately well balanced sweet bitter flavour with a shortish dry finish. Quite drinkable especially at a Belgian countryside cafe on a warm spring evening. As PsychProf says, could have many more on a summers evening.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Schroppfy (2328) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - MAR 11, 2002
The commercial description on the bottle mentions ’fraiche’ and it is ’cooler’ and more refreshing than some other brunes I’ve been sampling lately. Yes, it lacks some of the depth, some of the aroma, of its more complex cousins, but I found it to be deliciously, and at ’only’ 7% ABV, dangerously quaffable. Doesn’t have the carbonation of the St. Feuillen, nor the rich malt and hop components to insure that the overall sweetness doesn’t go too far. However, in the summertime I could have many of these.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Belgik (72) - Sterrebeek, BELGIUM - NOV 27, 2001
Light malty aroma without depth.
Light-yellowish head of foam, fading fast. Not very intense medium reddish-brown color, almost no fizz.
Not very intense lightly sweet malty soft flavor, balanced but rather light in body, clean taste.
Not very long aftertaste, no bitterness.
A decent quaff but without any of the greater qualities, lacking individuality: a purely commercial product without real interest.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - NOV 27, 2001
Far too sweet. Therefor all the other flavors are killed.

brown colour, fine head, malty with a hint of burnt caramel in the nose, sweet candy - nice but nothing to dream about
