3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (3590) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2011
Bottle at Zotte in Amsterdam. Pours ruby-purple-brown with a moderate, creamy head. Semi-dark, toasted malts in the aroma, plenty of fruits, berries. Medium sweet flavor, some notes of fruit punch, a hint of tang, light toffee, some candy and malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Faintly warming finish, mild tangy fruits, some rich bread. Lingering fruit punch. Decent, drinkable beer.

Bottle. Murky brown with a small off white / beige head. A solid dubbel but not very exciting. The usual dark fruit and yeast flavours, bit thin all round. Nothing to really grab me but didn’t not enjoy drinking it.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Koelschtrinker (6544) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 19, 2011

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Grima (1200) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - MAY 24, 2011
Beautiful red-brown color. The smell is sweet and fruity, slightly alcoholic. Starts extremely sweet with fruity nuances and a light malt body. To the center part, a chocolate-like flavor is added. Almost a little reminiscent of an English stout. Towards the end, the alcohol comes through a little more. Excellent!
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 MrHangover (342) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAY 18, 2011
Ciney Bruin aroma has yeast, bread and darker fruits in it. Very promising. But the flavour has also a bit bread and a sweetness I can’t place yet. Too bad the flavour disappears rapidly. Also, it’s hard to pour a nice glass. I couldn’ fill the entire glass. Just when it starts to build a head, the bottle is empty, leaving the glass just about half full. And it’s not like I’m a rookie in pouring beers. So that is a loss of points in the appearance wich is a shame because the glass looks great.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 kerolasa (353) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 26, 2011
Brown red clear color. Dunking smell. Taste is sweet, and turns to bitter malty. After taste reminds winter bok. Too much carbonation.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 suprchunk (802) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - MAR 17, 2011
Murky brown with nary a head. Only lacing is suds that get caught each time I take a drink. Smells of toffee, alcohol and sugary sweetness. Tastes are almost the same, minus the abundance of toffee. There is a very bitter feeling left in the mouth after swallowing that doesn’t seem to fit. And there is a slight dryness that is strange when mixed with the sweetness in this one. Not a bad beer, but seems a little too off in flavor and aroma for a normal dubbel.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 txspartan (601) - Wilrijk, BELGIUM - MAR 10, 2011
An average abbey dubbel that somehow still leaves something to be desired for.
