Test vom 17.3.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,6,4,2,9,4 - 4,65

Red brownish ale with a light moka head. Very light brown sugar aroma. Nice lightly sweet malt with a good bitterness, a bit molassey. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. May 2005.

25 cl bottle. Deep brown beer, completely clear with a thick beige head. Sweet toasted nut aroma with a soft plumminess as well. Some light caramel. The flavour is a bit chewy with a soft spiciness and some plummy flavour. A little bit floury on the palate. Metallic and dusty. Not a great example.

JorisPPattyn (6728) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 12, 2004
Yellowish-brown, irregular head; dark red-chestnut brown ale. Bready nose, more like a German Bock than a Belgian beer. Sweet taste, "speculoos" (kind of Belgian shortbread), going over into bready flavour again. Roasted dark malts, fresh tasting. Medium to full bodied, some alcohol, but blending in. Generally speaking sweet, but infinitely better than the blonde version. It’s definitely defendable.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 Bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with tan patches of head. The aroma is malty with fruity raisins and brown bread. The taste is fruity and malty with the same raisins and breadiness. A little late sourness also. Decent enough.Score 3.4

Very, very dark brown with a smooth head. Aromas are chocolate, sugar, licourice and some fruit. Flavours are sweet and fruity with chocolate smoothness. Has a dry finish. OK, even if a bit dull.

FatPhil (6207) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 20, 2008
Dark brown, decent tight head, which fades to something thin and wispy. Light crisp fruity aroma, sweet too. A little cold, harsh carbonation at this temperature. Taste is very sweet - burnt caramel, pleasant bitter tang too. Some sharp sour hint - not off sour, just sharp sour, and pleasant brown-ness. No trace of 7%. Wonderful sweet bruin, not too malt-obsessed. Quaffable.
