JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - JUL 28, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2004 (on bottle) After having the blond, the bruin was kind of a low. The aroma is vague to say it nicely and wildly turned in the glass, it only produces some heavy hazel and a hint of alcohol. The color is very nice ´n ruby-brown. Caramel and light chocolate in the finish, but still, weak as a bruin.

Bottled 25cl. It pours a nut brown beer with a small beige head. Honey, candy, vegetables, caramel, cherries and metal in the nose. The alcohol is rather present. Gluey with hints of burnt sugar. Honey, caramel, vegetables, hay, brown sugar, wax and candy in the taste. Not much lacework. Sweet malty. Low bitterness. This beer reminds me a bit of vitamalt. Some dates sneaking in. Metallic. Unpleasant sticky components. A hint of onion in the finish. A huge dissapointment.

Bruges-07. Clear ruby brown body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, tan head. Very sweet with fruit and brown sugar undertones. Medium body with modest bitterness.

330ml bottle from Franglais, Calais. Ruby colour with bubbly red/ivory head. Cereal, toffee and boiled cabbage/broccoli aroma. Bit thin on flavour in mouth. Pasteurised, some boiled sweet. Some dryness on end. Some more toffee. Not much of interest unless you like boiled broccoli.

Head is initially large, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is clear dark orange-brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel), lightly yeasty (mold), with notes of cola, peppermint, and orange. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, moderately astringent. Much too sweet, and artificially so. Shameful.

gnoff (5004) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 4, 2006
Draught at Delirium Café in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Description of the pouring: The tap went out half way into the glass, the guy behind the bar continued to pourfoam into a big glass, waited until the foam had settled and poured it into my beer. About the worst thing I’ve seen, but didn’t feel like complaining today...

Dark red-brwon color, big beige fluffy head.
Smells like a mix of old red wine and vinegar.
Initially very sour taste, faint butterscotch aftertaste. Almost a bit flat and watery, but that might be due to the above described pouring technique.
Low to none bitterness. A bit sweet taste behind the sour taste.

Has it gone bad as it being the last in the keg, or is the beer really suposed to taste this way???

Ruikt naar rijke pils, wel mat. Na alle recensies hier een mierezoet biertje verwacht, maar valt reuze mee; beetje kaugom en ijskoffie. Grappig tussendoortje wat goed in de mond ligt, maar lekker is anders.

A malt beverage with alcohol. Damn poor stuff. Alken-Maes is now part of Scottish & Newcastle.

Test vom 17.3.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,6,4,2,9,4 - 4,65
