Sweet and chalky, with a warm finish. Not bad.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Imaena (841) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 19, 2013
Draught. This is not the best of the barley wines out there. But if you are at Logan this is the best BW in the airport.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ineedbeer (181) - San Leandro, California, USA - APR 7, 2013
Bottle is about a year old.
Aroma is fairly fruity with a bit of lighter caramel malt notes.
Pours light brown with a bit of burn amber. Persistent, thin light tan head with minimum slaving and medium sized legs.
Flavor is good with some decent caramel character, but not as complex as others. Light caramel, some light earthy hop notes, and dried fruit. Bitterness is moderately strong. Alcohol is faint in the flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency with low alcohol warmth.
Overall a good beer, but not a great beer. The complexity is a bit small, but the caramel is nice and clean.

Bottle. Dark orange pour, little bit of carbonation and a lot of lasting lacing cardboardy hops and sweet prunes. Flavor is boozy sweet caramel, prunes, and a little nutty and slightly sweet on the finish (decently balanced at 12%). Not too bad for a $10 barleywine bomber.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 portableparty (1596) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 15, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a dusty amber with a tight large foamy off white head that dissipates to a film and lacing. Aroma has subtle resinous pine and spruce with brunt candied sugar caramel malt and some yeasty biscuit. Taste has chalky dusty bitter pine hops and mild spice along with lemon rind and some caramel malt and yeast. Palate is full dusty and dry. I like this, and the alcohol is well balanced.

24th January 2013 THE Others tasting. Hazy light brown beer, tiny pale tan head. Palate is light and a little soft. Nice mild orange hops over rich caramel malt. Creamy lactose and a little aniseed alcohol. Semi dry finish. Well joined up and tasty.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 kimjongill (180) - - FEB 21, 2013
From tap. Great hop aroma and taste, well balanced against a malt backbone. Definitely an american style barleywine, with strong pine and citrus hop notes. Great mouthfeel. Appearance is a little yellower than I’d like.

Draft at Capones. Pours a cloudy gold with thin white head. Boozy citrus nose, with sweet caramel. Fairly smooth drink but a little hot.. Some nice hop flavors - citrus and pine, with a slightly bready finish
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (6893) - London, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2013
Bottle at The Others Tasting, London - many thanks to the man impressively devoid of baggy wrinkles himself, Ken. Pours goddy orange with a fine, white foam head. Some citrusy hops in the nose, rich bread and caramel. Big sweet flavor with earthy pine, caramel and ripe orange. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish with some resinous pine, sweet bread, toasty sugars. Pretty nice, good hops in here. A standard well-hopped American barley wine.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jackl (2511) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2013
Bottle @ THE Others Tasting. Cheers to Ken for bringing this along! The pour’s a disgusting renal failure brown color. Hazy, soupy. Unattractive. The nose is bright grassy hops, singed wood, caramel. The taste is spruce, resin, grass. A hoppy barleywine indeed. These flavors are supported by a rich caramel malt body. Hints of milk chocolate and plum. Full bodied, a bit hot on the finish. Overall, a pretty decent barleywine.
