Commercial Description:
Bailey's Ale is a hoppy blond ale named after our happy blonde labrador. It's made with a bit of malted wheat and Centennial hops for a refreshing citrusy finish. It's unfiltered and bottle-conditioned for freshness. We hope you enjoy this beer.

I love this beer! Big head, and far more flavor than any blond I've had. This beer has a high alcohol content too, around 7.5% I think it was. Try it today! I can't find it anywhere outside of boston though, which isn't good news.

A pleasant surprise after tasting it a second time. The first time was when the Cisco rep was in and I got to sample the whole line. The Summer of Lager overwhelmed my mouth and everything else I tasted afterwards paled in comparison. After I got this bad boy in-store, I got to taste it again and was thorougly impressed. I really like the hoppy blonde style. The key, I think, is that the hops aren’t overbearing, but still very much present while you taste it. I would have never expected a beer with this kind of cloud cover to be this crisp. Gotta buy a bottle to bring home for the personal collection/rainy day fund.

From a 750ml bottle. Pours a very, very pale gold with a big frothy lacy white head. Huge head, by the way. Even a gentle pour brings an enormous frothy head. Smell is spicy and citrusy. Taste is bitter, very generously hopped. Citrus flavors are prominent with spices (coriander among others) in the finish. Much hoppier than I would’ve expected from the smell and the style. Very bight bitter aftertaste from hops and spices. Creamy. This is not an everyday beer for me but it is damn tasty. I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything quite like it.

Man i love my hometown brewers. Pours anice light orange color with a great fluffy white head. Aroma is citrusy and hoppy. Taste had a slightly malty character at first then ended slightly bitter. Nice citrus finish on it. Very smooth and crisp.

A big citrus head! You are not kidding. Is this even a beer? Much more than I expect from a "Blond". Just like the Summer of Lager, Cisco seems to twist the realm of style-reason with this brew. This one is quite refreshing. Unique indeed!

2003 bottle consumed 9/2004. Pours a wonderfully brilliant gold with some softer lime green/yellow hues, mountains of white foam and lacing and a vigorous carbonation rising. Bottle conditioned, as with all of their brews. Aroma has some very fragrant hops, lightly bitter and citric (lemons and limes mainly). Hint of malt sweetness and a bit of drier wheatiness and sweatiness. Flavor is bold; moderately bitter with a good amount of malt backing it up. Beer needs to breath for a while to let the carbonation even out. Lots of lemon sugar cookie flavor, but more of the hops as well on the finish. This is what I would imagine a great blonde ale to be: fresh hops, ample malt and a refreshing but not watery medium body.

08.12.05 750ml bottle. What in the world is up with this stuff? Nearly impossible to get it into the glass. First pour was an inch of hazy golden beer and overflowing off-white foam. Second attempt was a volcano of more foam. I’ve settled for a half glass of beer after a fifteen minute wait. Well, it’s worth the wait. Aroma is juicy and hoppy with lots of sourish grass, some citrus, lots of pine, and some cracker. There’s also a mystery mineral aroma that’s earthy like moss and musty appleskins hidden under the bigger aromas; a nice secondary complexity. Flavor is just as curious as the aroma. Up front it’s a barrage of bright and oily lemon skins mixed with a healthy dose of pinesol. It’s a bit too much at first. But underneath the madness is a milder, grassy, fresh, and quenching beer with touches of summer grain fields drenched in citrus blossom nectar. Very nice juxtiposition of sourness and sweetness for such a light beer, and never too tart. It’s like a crisp, lemony pastry. Well done.

Picked up a 750ml of this at State Line in MD just because I hadn’t seen it or heard of it before. This appeared a slightly hazy yellow with a tall rocky white head. The head breaks down into a hilly surface with clumps of lacing being left around the glass. Very floral and earthy in the nose, there are slight notes of doughy malt as well. The flavor starts of with a mild citric bitterness accompanied by earthy hop notes. A bit of doughy malt was present as well, with a slight sweetness abound. The aftertaste had a citric bitter bite to it that was quite pleasant. Mouthfeel was light to medium with a good clean crisp taste. Drinkability was excellent I could drink this beauty all night it I could get it locally. Surprisingly hoppy and good beer that I am more than pleased with.
