750ml from State Line. Another fine entry in the Woods series. Handsome pour, a light brown with a healthy pinkish streak in it and a fairly thin carbonation. Lots of oak in the nose, a la Enigma, with vanilla, sherry, and wet wood. Very understated cherry flavors but still tart, young dark fruit and and skins. Mildly acetic but overall quite mellow and well balanced.

Rusty penny pour with hints of bright tangerine and deep mahogany. Very cherry-forward with grape skin and the same apple pie filling flavor found in the kriek. Some cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla accompanying dusty oak. Really good.

In short: A fun fruity beer that is astringent, dry and woody. Original creation.
How: Bottle 750ml corked & caged. Consumed approximately 9 months after purchase
The look: Cloudy rusty-orange topped by a short lived off-white head
In long: Nose is dusty, almost rustic, with notes of ground cherries. Again in the taste, the fruity character of the beer is mostly ground cherries and not regular cherries. A light sweetness reminiscent of pie crust. I also got dried fruits of all kinds. Also plenty of wheat, wood, dust, quite a bit of oak tannins. The beer is very astringent without being particularly sour or acidic, just very tannic. This beer was just “different” and fun. And despite the astringency/tannic nature of the beer I thought this was highly drinkable and I drank my 750ml in record time. Bonus points for drinkability and originality. I’m really enjoying the new line of wood aged beers by Cisco but they are unfortunately a bit too expensive. If I was Cisco I would import child slave labor from India to increase production and lower the cost and … oh my god, I just realized I’ve been holding my moral compass upside down.

25oz bottle from the shop. Excited to try this one, pours a nice lighter red hue, clearer than expected. The cherry is potent in the nose, a little acidic too. Once it hits the palate the flavors are a bit all over the place. I got a real bready cherry pastry flavor more than anything else. The oak barrels must have imparted a bit too much since the cherry was light and delicate, which was fine, just not what I was expecting. Decent offering, but high price tag might not have people running to it. Not sure if this one would get any better with time.
