3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL cork and cage bottle shared by BeerBeggar from the brewery. There once was a beer from Nantucket...
Split four ways and poured into a plastic "glass" as I drank this while in a pool. Color was a glowing orange hue, medium clarity. The musk of chlorine and chemical rich water I assumed came from the pool. The beer was a mix of perfume-y, cherry pit with a hint of light cherry vomit. Sounds bad but I get a lot of lactic with just a hint of acetic, not overpowing but like something more to balance the lactic sourness. Tart cherries abound and fortunately no artificial cherry or sweetness around. Flavor had a medium sourness present, worked well in the context of the beer. Very drinkable with a medium body and a nice coating on the throat that works well with the lingering tart cherry sourness. It is decent execution but nothing to go out of your way for and pricey at $16 a bottle. Maybe the Nantucket folks enjoy this more.

8/8/10/11/11/11

undercarbonated yet very tasty. no head at all and a tiny bit of lacing with a swirl. not super tart, and nice complexity of fruit beyond just the cherry notes. very enjoyable

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml cage & cork served in a tulip. Pour was vibrant grapefruit pulp with one finger of thin white head. Nose is wood, wine, funk, basement, and sour cherries. Taste is cherries and sour/funk up front, but this combo is quickly joined by basement, wood, and wine. This is mediocre as a sour offering, but if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary and enjoy the groundwork of a sour, then it is a pretty decent brew. All in all, I am just a touch disappointed with this one; I would enjoy it more if the tartness/dryness was toned down just a bit, and the sour was beefed up just a touch with some lingering sweetness for balance.

pours a reddish amber from the bottle..still water, and anything but lively. aroma full of oak, tart cherry, sour funk, and a touch of wet socks. very nice, as a slight sweetness comes in the end. flavor is even more tart than expected, with big cherry hitting initially...finish is funky and full of oak and leaves...thin and watery, this could use more carbonation; however, that is my only gripe

750ml Bottle thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a red topped with a sand head. Aroma was of funk, maraschino cherry, vanilla, oak, and some vinegar. Taste was as the aroma lead by the sweet cherries, next you have some of that barrel showing up vanilla, oak, and tart.

Bottle drank at Jackie O’s, provided by Beace, thanks dude...Pours a grapefruit juice color, not much carbonation...The aroma is oak, cherries, fairly acidic, sour...The taste is a little sweet cherries, oak, a little sour. Tastes good but more of a juice than a sour. Very crushable.
Can’t recommend this highly if you’re looking for a sour, but if you wanted to just crush something, not a bad grab.

Pours a bright red with no head. Very red, but not fake red. If that makes sense. I’ve had plenty of beers that look like they are artificially colored, but this looks more natural than the other beers I’ve had. Strange I know.
Tart sourness. Wine, wood, fruity.
Very tart. A little bit of a whiskey flavor from, I guess, the wood used. A bit of a wine taste as well.
Thin, no carbonation, no residual sweetness. A bit on the dry side.
Not bad. I don’t know if I could consume this in a significant quantity. The thin quality makes it a little blah, but it tastes good.

The serving was from a bottle purchased at State Line Liquors. There seemed to be lots of funk in the nose, a very maraschino cherry note, cider vinegar, and earth notes. It pours a very deep pink color with a light pink, foamy head. The flavor is very cherry up front but lots of funk and oak swimming in quickly. I think there is a bit of butter in there as well. Not overly tart and not altogether impressive either.
