Draft @ Publick House in Brookline, MA. Dark ruby color with tan head served in a tulip glass. Initial flavors of spiced rum and apples. Champagne, cola, cocoa and vanilla bean notes. Intricate, original and very wonderful beer.

The sour pours dark amber chestnut with a small off-white head, much darker than expected. The aroma is funky but tame, so inviting, familiar, and delicious with light cherry notes from the barrels. The flavor of a solid, non-puckering sour ale that ends with the wild yeast lingering on the palate smoothly.

Shared on a beautiful Chicago afternoon with Alex, Sean, and Mike. 750ml bottle into a Lost Abbey glass...A dark brown pour with a light tan head, carbonated, good retention and lacing...The aroma lets you know without a doubt this is a blend, you can really pull out almost all the different beers from the 8 blended. Its super complex, at one point I think too much is going on, but it balances well. Notes of red wine, vinegar, oak, vanilla...The taste is equally complex but doesn’t pull it off as well as the aroma, but still pretty good. Very vinous, lots of oak, vanilla, sour but more qualities of a strong ale in the taste. The more you drink this the better it gets and more easier to drink. A surprise in how good a blend can be, worth trying for the aroma alone.

Botle 75 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours a dark brown - close to black - with a vague tint of orange and a beige head. Tart aroma, some dark fruits and loads of Brett and wood. Medium body only, dry dark fruits with a little roast, tart woody notes, raisins and loads of lacto too. Somewhat astringent. A very sophisticated blend. 180311

In short: A highly roasted, very wild and very tart beer of some kind. Wickedly unusual.
How: Tap at Boston Extreme Beer Fest 2010. Night Of The Barrel session.
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Intriguing nose that is bold wild and roasted. Taste is a strange mix of highly roasted malts and wild funk that develops a some kind raspberry-like tartness. Some leafy hops, some wood. Finish is dry, roasted and tart. Love it or hate it. For a friend of mine (and brewer of a Montreal brewpub) this was the beer of the night. For others it was an fucked-up mess. To me it was a bit of both, an excellent fucked-up mess. I don’t think any description can do it justice. You need to try it. At Extreme Beer Fest where styles are pushed to the limits and genres and bended and twisted this beer stood out as totally bizarre. This is like going to a sadomasochist Satanist fundamentalist get-together where everybody likes to dress as cartoon characters while having sex with farm animals. And at that get-together there is a dude who is so weird that he makes everybody feel uncomfortable.

[Draft @ Three Penny] Dark brown / red color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, wood, dried fruits, and wild yeast. Taste was roasty, with cocoa, dark fruits, vanilla, and light wildness. A wild porter, perhaps.

tom’s bottle, thanks for sharing. Dark coloured with a dark lacing. Complex aroma with a fruity edge. Taste like a shiraz wine, and also fruity, edgy, rum and coke, edge from the cranberries, other dark fruit. everything adds to the complex taste, yet smooth and drinkable.

Pours ruby red with tan head. Smells vinegary and dry with some horseblankety, sweaty elements. Tastes tarte and fruity with some lip puckering sourness and a dry, oaky finish.
