The name "Grey Lady" comes from the nickname for the often-foggy island for which it is brewed. This hazy, Belgian-style Wit emits a complex, earthy nose with sophisticated notes. The sift, malty mid-palate has wicked good zesty hints but gives way to a delectably dry finish. Quenching!

Bottle. Hazy golden body with a short white head. Aroma is lemon, grains, light spice (almost a hint of cinnamon), and yeast notes. Taste is sweet malts, soft lemon, grains, dusty yeast, and mild spices. Body is light and very bubbly with a strong, prickly carbonation. Ends with more spices, light yeast notes, sweet malt, hints of lemon and wheat.

Sampled during MN Gathering II in Maplewood, MN and shared by beastiefan2k. From a 22-oz bottle pours a hazy golden straw brew with a nice size white head that has some nice retention. Aroma of lemon zest, coriander, multi-grain malt with wheat, a hint of clove and some white pepper. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of banana esters, coriander, orange zest and some light clove. Finish is semi-dry with some floral and coriander aftertaste. A little more on the dry side to most other Witbiers but still pretty decent.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of pepper and light spices. Poured gold/yellow/straw in color with a huge, foamy, white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Light to medium sweet flavor. Tastes of light spices, pepper, lemon, honey, lemongrass, and fruit. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale straw straw body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is quite interesting and really complex for a Wit. There’s a ton of herbal and spicy notes, I almost wondered if there was some tea leaves in here, but there’s no mention of it. I really like this aroma. The flavor is a little lighter and less interesting than the aroma, but it’s still really spicy and nice with a fairly heavy citrusy note. Light wheat base with a crisp finish. Light bodied with fine fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice simple Wit, much better than average for the style.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly hazy yellow-golden color with a medium sized soapy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was faint citrus and must with a light vague spicy undertone. The flavor was tangy orange and lemon with light undertones of must, pepper and cardboard. The finish was short with lemon and yeast. Medium body. Pleasant.

Can - looks pretty good - hazy gold with a frothy head - very dry and kind of uncommon for a wit - it’s a spiced wheat, all right, but it tastes like sage, clove, white pepper - not much else going on character wise aside from the strong spice character - meh.

Hazy blonde coloured body with a super-fast dying white head, just like soda. Aroma of corn, wheat, coriander seed, spice and a touch of flowers. Light-bodied; Assertive coriander seed and corn flavour at first with a touch of light spices and wheat. Aftertaste shows a bit of spices, a little wheat and a nice orange and lemon note. Overall, an okay beer with some good flavours, but not enough complexity and depth to be really good. Nice to sample in the hot weather, for sure. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled in Upstate New York in New Paltz, New York on 23-July-2011.

Tap at the airport in Boston, MA. Light golden color with orange highlights. The nose is sweet, some banana with a spicy ginger finish. The taste is moderately light and sweet, with a slightly bready finish. The palate’s watery, a slightly wet finish. Overall, OK, one of the better beers I’ve had at an airport :)

Smells just like a Belgian wit. Flavor is fairly heavy on the orange with a little bit of wheat. A pretty solid beer.
