3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JAN 4, 2005
Pouts a hazy orange/copper, some small particles swimming aroud, with a tall rocky off-white head that leaves good lacing. Sweet fresh citrus hops in the aroma along with a bit of earthy spice. Taste starts with a light fruity malt and finishes clean with a nice floral hop light bitterness. Medium body, well balanced with a clean, crisp, medium dry finish.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2005 2004 draught @ Redbones. Appearance is quite lovely for the style, dark orange/copper, with some auburn hints and yellow/golds around the edges. Large foamy white head typical of Cisco. Aroma of wet, soily, green hops, low in bitterness and quite earthy (something like fuggles), also a hint of malt, lightly sweet. Flavor starts out with a sweet, juicy malt creaminess, followed by a big hops flavor that is quite the opposite of what I was expecting. No huge unbalanced bitterness, just a good floral hops flavor, lightly bitter, with the malt easily standing up to the hops. Strange yeast and malt notes through the middle, almost a vegetable quality that I cant put my finger on. Carbonation, is quite good for Cisco, I guess being on tap helps it, as it is lively, but not sharp and creates no thinning on the body. A very flavorful, medium-full bodied ale with tons of malt and fresh hops. 7/5/7/4/15
2004 bottle sampled 3/6/05 Well wouldn’t you know it, another hopeful that I brought to the tasting ended up sucking. Perhaps draught Cisco beers are ultimately better, and it would make sense that it was better having it fresh on draught, but still, this bottle is barely 6 months old and it already is thin/oxidized somewhat, and has strange spoiled fruit notes. The green hops still come through fairly pleasantly, but the body is a sad, sad memory of what I had on draught. A watery, thin mess of a palate. 7/5/6/2/11

tap. amber/copper color... aroma has hints of sweet toffeee, earthy, syrup... the flovors sweet/malty light hops, not what the aroma leads you to expect, a little watery IMO... tastes a little like a watered down pumpkin ale
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 7, 2005
The Lure: Grapefruit and orange sorbets through which flocculate adamant yeast.
The Festivities: Dry and bitter orange zest ruffles a weak and tired body. Floral chalkiness and watery dew attract a couple frowns.
Transcendence: Summer sunshine would probably give it a better chance than this snowing permafrost.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Cletus (6064) - Connecticut, USA - APR 7, 2005
Pours out an ambery color with a finger’s length of a head. Smell is of citrus cleaner and car batteries. Taste is a bit nicer with strong hoppy floral elements present. Not bad overall.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rastacouere (5920) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 7, 2005
Orangey amber, off-white head, very nice lacing. Nicely grapefruity aroma, nutty appleskin, softly alcoholic fruits, yeast. Somehow metallic taste, tart and starting some oxidation. Grapefruity and melony hops could have been pleasant otherwise. Strong typical cisco carbonation. Not in its best shape or not very good.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 OldGrowth (1859) - North Carolina, USA - DEC 23, 2005
Bottle, from Lukes Liquors. Huh, sour nose, lemony, little tea nad honey. Seltzer. Hazy brownish orange color with floaties. Great lacing. Bitter flavor, like aromas, mainly lemon. Medium body, lite creamy smooth mouthfeel, sour bitter finish. This can’t be right. I hope this is old/ bad. Too bad I was psyched when I found this, oh well, Next!

750 ml bottle shared by DarkElf - thanks! Pours nice hazy amber with a huge off-white head the leaves good laciing. Fruity malts with a sour leaning, like oranges starting to ferment, light floral hoppy notes evident as well. Lemon and grapefruit, sour predominates with some floral hoppiness as well. Light to medium bodya nd gentle carbonation. Good chance this beer had turned or began to turn at the time of this tasting, so my rating may not reflect accurately on the normal quality of this beer. However had this been a belgian sour as opposed to an APA, I would likely have rated it differently.

750 ml bottle produced a huge gush when opened by MartinT, then produced little remarkable in the drinking area when shared with myself, Rastacouere, tiggmtl, and ClarkVV. Coppery translucence and a huge head is a promising start...thick, bitter/alcoholic aroma reminiscent of household solvents...watery, thin fruity body with raspberry-cherry notes.
