COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Finally an American-style IPA from us... This beautiful red-orange ale has a full malty body balanced by a fruity apricot/grapefruit nose. Mounds of dank Summit hops in the whirlpool and dry-hop additions provide a deliciously quenching finish to this East meets West-coast ale.

Bottle at RBESG 09 Sheffield. Cloudy gold, thick rocky beige head. Just too yeasty, metallic and gushing. Jesus, tha’s hoppy. Hop juice. Even for me that was just too hoppy.

Rocky, foamy head atop a hazy light orange. Lots of carbonation. Head is stubborn. Color changes with light and depth/thickness. Nice floral and citrusy hops in the smell. Malts are dry and bready. Citrus and mild pine needles. Sweet, perfumey, floral; outstanding. Hops first, a little chlorine in the taste. Malts are pale and bready. A bitter IPA, which would use more of a balance. Definitely solid, could be a bit more malty. The feel is thick and creamy. Fizzy. It’s a really nice, fragrant IPA. Could have more malts in the taste. Solid, unbalanced.

Draught at brewpub... Hopped out of control, no balance. Big aroma and tons of flavors, but no good. Not a good brew by Cisco. Long bitter finish

Bottle at the RBESG09, Grand tasting, sheffield. Alround rating: Very hoppy, dry citrus goodness, only held back by a bit too much yeast.

[RBESG, Sheffield]
Grand Tasting @ The Harlequin, Sheffield.
Pours muddy orange with a giant, frothy, white head. Big gusher. Aroma has powerful hops, yeast, piney, grapefruit. High carbonation, rather dry mouthfeel. Flavour has sweetish resiny hops, light maltiness and quite harsh bitterness. Fine beer, though.

Borresteijn (2757) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2009
RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Hazy orange colour, big white head. Big citric hoppy grapefruit aroma. Flavour is extremely bitter, citrus, grapefruit, fruity, melon, a bit cloying. Drying bitter finish. A bit too aggressive imo. Medium bodied.

i gave high marks for my surprise, I wasnt thinking this was going to be all that remarkable, but it really is, a great IPA, not on the same tier as some Cali IPA’s but a worthy contender.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2010 I have re-rated this beer after another 22 oz bomber - a decent IPA but too much yeast, at least in the case I purchased. Original review: I was underwhelmed by the Cisco Whale’s Pale Ale so, I approached this with trepidation. As usual, my fellow members got this one right. A bit over-carbonated , but I will take that any day over a flat beer. Excellent flavor, extremely cloudy, dense and chewy with perfectly balanced and pronounced hops. An excellent IPA and highly recommended.
