DA (2482), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jun 25, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Pours amber with a soft white head. Felt a bit more like an English IPA to me. Toasted malts up front, hops a bit more herbal, fruity, and grassy, not as big of a citrus and grapefruit character. Still very nice IPA, while not as sharp as some of the Portland ones, very good balance to the flavors. Apricots and toasty cereal flavors work well together, finish was crisp and floral.
michael-pollack (1488), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 22oz. Bottle: Aroma of fruity, floral hops, caramel malts, apricot, citrus, and pineapple. Poured copper with a bit of amber in color and a huge, foamy, rocky, creamy, tan head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, resin, caramel malts, a little tobacco, and and a hint of fruit. Light to medium body. Thin, watery texture. Soft carbonation. Caramel and resin finish is a bit dry. beerbuzzmontreal (2747), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2008 Cloudy amber pour with a thin offwhite head. Interesting aroma of spicy, resinous hops. Good flavor of resinous, spicy hops with some malt and bitterness in the end. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Quite interesting. ATLBeerDog (233), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 10, 2008 Pours a beautiful pale/orange with a huge and I mean huge white head. Intense smells of sweet fruity hops. First taste is hop heaven…just what an IPA should be. A nice malty backbone really balances well with this excellent American IPA. blklab2007 (570), Connecticut, USA Sep 6, 2008 22 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass has a dark orange amber color and a huge frothy off white head that fell slowly down the glass leaving thick foam and lace. aroma has juicy grapefruit hops, light resin, medium sweetness, mild toasted caramel malt, bread, and a pinch of pepper spice. mouth feel is medium with a nice fullness from the frothy carbonation. flavor has the sweet grapefruit and tropical hops side but also a good dose of biter and resins. sweetness balances things out and just enough malt to thicken and give body. there is some acidity and lingering bitterness in the finish pushed out with the high carbonation. the bottle conditioning and dry hopping both go over well here. zathrus13 (1091), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Aug 18, 2008 Pours cloudy orange, with a tan head. Aroma is grapefruit and caramel. Flavor is grapefruti, caramel and ends a bit bitter and grassy.
