COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Finally an American-style IPA from us... This beautiful red-orange ale has a full malty body balanced by a fruity apricot/grapefruit nose. Mounds of dank Summit hops in the whirlpool and dry-hop additions provide a deliciously quenching finish to this East meets West-coast ale.

In short: A yeasty IPA with orange juice flavor upfront
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Cloudy orange ody topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose is like a fresh orange muffin. Taste is very yeasty, orange juice, moist, orange peels, blue cheese, some pine-tree. Malt backbone remains in the back and does not contribute much to the flavor spectrum. After-taste of resinous bitter hops and old slightly past due-date orange juice. To me it was just ok, nothing special. It is an Indie beer. If you don’t like it, it is because you don’t get it.

Bottle at A&K Holiday tasting, thanks Eben: Hazy deep golden hue with a frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of piney and leafy hops. grapefruit and apple sauce esters, minty and juniper berry spice, caramel and ceder. The taste has a a bitter front with supporting acidity, fruity and minty as well. The finish has a dry chalky and spicy character. The mouth feel is quite lively and carbonated. An okay brew, drinkable.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber colour with brief, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with grapefruit, orange peel and hints of pine needles. Hoppy, fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, crystal malt, pine needles and a dry finish with a generous piney/citric bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Nice and tasty.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a clear, very bubbly orange-copper with a large lasting fluffy white head. Nice aroma of citrus hops, pine hops, citrus fruit, caramel malt and a hint of spice. Flavour of piney hops foremost followed by citrus, yeast, some alcohol, caramel malt, spices and a decent, long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.

1/19/13. 12oz bottle. Hazy amber pour, mostly brown, almost cloudy/muddy, actually, with a small khaki head that laces well. Sweet, floral, fruity, earthy hop aroma with burnt caramel. Very laid back hops with earthiness, caramel, dirt, and metal. Eh.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of fruity, floral hops, caramel malts, apricot, citrus, and pineapple. Poured copper with a bit of amber in color and a huge, foamy, rocky, creamy, tan head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, resin, caramel malts, a little tobacco, and and a hint of fruit. Light to medium body. Thin, watery texture. Soft carbonation. Caramel and resin finish is a bit dry.

Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence d’amertume en arrière goût. (Rating #1114)

Bottle. Coppery amber pour with a rocky, frothy white head. Thick citrus peel and spicy hops with hints of toffee in the nose. Taste is big spicy and floral hops, light caramel, peach, light pineapple, orange peel and toffee. An herbal hoppiness comes through as well. Almost medicinal at one point. Body is medium with creamy carbonation. Ends with more big spicy hops and floral hops, larger herbal notes, citrus fruit, grapefruit juice and light toffee.

PorterPounder (4611) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Dark amber pour, medium-thick off-white head that leaves a nice coat of lacing. Fresh spruce aroma, hint of caramel. Flavor is full-bodied and rich. Nice subtle bitterness, light citrus, some nuttiness, apricots, a touch of spiciness. More of an English style IPA than an American west-coast IPA. Thickish, rich mouthfeel. I like.
