nuplastikk (361), Maryland, USA Apr 29, 2008 750ml Belgian style bottle. Rich, thick, and murky orange color with a lasting foamy head. Dry, doughy, and bitter, with some wheat and an almost farmhouse funkiness. Mystery ABV never helps..I’d guess around 7%. Lots of straw and mellow citrus notes. Really big head...solid lasting foam. This is a great fresh tasting American IPA, about as good as it gets.
TomDecapolis (2311), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours a nice golden amber with a large foamy/creamy off white head that left nice lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, light pine, mango, caramel and a touch of toasted malt. Flavor of grapefruit, light piney notes, floral, some caramel and grains, apricot and moderate hop bitterness. Well done IPA DA (2243), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jun 25, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Pours amber with a soft white head. Felt a bit more like an English IPA to me. Toasted malts up front, hops a bit more herbal, fruity, and grassy, not as big of a citrus and grapefruit character. Still very nice IPA, while not as sharp as some of the Portland ones, very good balance to the flavors. Apricots and toasty cereal flavors work well together, finish was crisp and floral. tiggmtl (4148), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 23, 2008 Toasted malts meld nicely with apricot and grapefruit in the nose. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a decent and lasting fine bubbled off white head. Nice caramel and toasted malt flavour provides a solid base for grapefruit, orange and resinous pine hop flavours. Bitterness is pronounced but balances well with the malt sweetness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle sampled at a tasting chez MartinT after the qualifying session for Grand Prix 2008. Immy (1470), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bomber. Slightly hazed amber with a huge, rocky, white head. Excellent lacing, medium body. Nose is a dry grapefruit rind over a biscuity malt. Lightly earthy with some piney notes.Nice, bitter hop flavor, even parts citrus, earth and pine with a fleshy fruit note. There is some caramel behind the hop assault. A pretty good IPA! thornecb (951), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jun 18, 2008 Pours amber into a shaker. Extremely active from a gentle pour. Fluffy off-white head top hats the rim and does not recede. Pine and resin aromas. Strangely soft, yet over-carbonated with good balance upfront and a lasting grapefruit finish. Appearance and palate definitely detracted.
