Lots of alcohol in the nose, silky sweet dark fruits followed by chocolate and perhaps a hint of coffee. Overall a great beer in the terrific Island Reserve series.

750ml bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Nearly pitch-black color. Thin light brown head. Nice loose ring of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Nice big earthy hop. Half-way to black IPA town. Big roast malt, some herbal flavors. Light bitter heavy roast coffee, hint of dark chocolate, some nice light heat. Super nice roasty aftertaste. This is a great big potent RIS.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks alexsdad06). Looks good; a dull dark cola with beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; very hoppy for a RIS though. Bitter notes along with dark malt and roast. Tastes like it smells with some spice I can’t identify. Good on the palate. Enjoyable.
