UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Pale yellow. Crystal clear. Turbulence from the pour mustered only the faintest traces of a head. Perhaps a wisp or two of lace. S: Raw brett notes. Some mineral-like earthy notes and whiff of lemon. T: Earthy funk - lemon and some tannic oak. Neither offensive nor interesting. Just, well, bland. M: Moderate carbonation, but a slightly prickly feel from the brett. Dry finish. O: Not much to get excited about here. If the flavors were more developed and assertive you might get something close to Orval or El Diablo Deluxe. Unfortunately, this beer doesn’t get there.

22oz bottle (but the label states 1PT., 9.4fL OZ). A fun take on the wit for sure. Pours a fairly crystal light gold with a frothy but sustained small bright white head. Aroma initially presents a touch of oak balanced by some subtle spice (orange peel being the most dominant). Warming brings out some agave nectar, white pepper and maybe some allspice? A touch of creamy wheat rounds out the nose. Flavor is creamy from the wheat with some slight tartness from the oak aging. Some very light spice flavors with green apples and white grape flavors as well. Medium bodied. Creamy texture. Slightly tart initially on the finish, but the creamy wheat takes hold on the back of the tongue. A unique wit that I could session the hell out of in the summer. Not overly complex, but what it’s lacking is fully made up by it’s insane drinkability. Thanks Matt!

Batch 1, bitch! Pours a brilliant, clear straw colour, offensively effervescent, and has the rockiest, whitest head I’ve EVER seen. Holy tits! I swear a gorilla nipple is popping out of my glass. Glob-a-dob-a-ding-dong lacing. The aroma stinks of the loveliest mildewy flowers. Spruce tips and some subdued zest in the nose as well. Tart, zesty, sprucey flavour with a nice, cheesy lactic tang. Minimal barrel character, but it would not really benefit from too much oak. Spritzy (but not abrasive) and thin bodied, yet velvety mouthfeel. Wet stone. Make a better sour wit than this. You won’t!

Sampled at the 2011 AleSmith BA Speedway release. Thank you! Hazy light yellow-gold with a thin, fine white head. The aroma has quite a bit of sourness along with both spice and grapefruit zest. The flavor is dominated by lemon and grapefruit floral sour characteristics. Some spicy hops bitterness rounds out the finish along with oak-aged characteristics.

750ml bottle served in a tulip. Pour is a hazy, orange hued gold with two fingers of wispy light head. Nose is yeast, cellar, funk, wood, tart cranberries, and dry champagne carbonation. Taste is right on par as it starts with very dry, but naturally sweet summer fruit and funk. This is followed by the yeast/wood/cranberry wallop that rolls right into the finish. This is a nice sour, nothing spectacular, but a very nice drinking staple if you are into sours.

bottle at 5k tasting - hazy yellow pour with fluffy white head. Arouma is powerful lemons and grapefruit, very earthy, woodsy in the nose as well. Sweet caramel malts balanced by a nice sour and bretty funk. Citrus fruits and a dry finish. Damn tasty

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Sediment-laden hazy medium orange-yellow body; thick creamy off-white head. Beautiful nose, a bouquet of sour pineapple, floral notes, pepper, and fennel. Tart body, floral with herbs (fennel); also lemon pixie stix and root beer. Sweet and tart.

From a bottle poured a straw color with almost no head. Tart malty flavor with a lasting aftertaste.

Light, crystal clear straw pour with a small ivory head. Aroma of grapefruit pith, lemon rind, and funky cheese. This one sizzles on the tongue like fresh Serpent Stout...quite the sensation. Flavor also shows some oak, pineapple, mango, and a touch of honey. Quite good!
