3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 marcus (4053) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours reddish brown with a tiny off-white head and a subtle cherry aroma. There is a delicate sour cherry flavor similar to Schaarbeekse with a distinct oak presence, which also accounts for the brown coloring. Very mellow.

750ml bottle pours a translucent, deep garnet amber with zero head. Nice aroma, not crazy, cherries, sangria, oranges, red wine, lightly medicinal, sour, cooked greens. Flavor is tart, sweet, plenty of cherries, obviously a bruin base, strawberry, a little caramel, dandelion greens, sour, hay, something lightly woody. Medium bodied, tart, lightly acidic. Not bad, but not worth the price.

Tasted on 5/14/12 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle obtained in a trade. Pours cloudy auburn with a thin pink tinted beige head that leaves thin lace. The nose is full of earthy natural cherries, some bread malt, and a hint of caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet with the earthy natural cherry, and the caramel and bread malt underlying. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long very sour natural cherry finish.

Tap @ FG with Erica. Pours dark red (amber hue) with no head into chalice. Nose is some dark, dry fruits and palate is the same with notes of dark cherry, prune/raisin. Dry, a little astringent, and kind of dusty in a cool way. Light to medium sour, medium to heavy tart. More fruit beer than sour to me. Very good.
