Very good beer. Head diminishes quickly, very rich flavor.

Dark brown/black with big coffee head. Rich coffee, roasty sweet malty aroma. Flavor not as rich, but good. Coffee dominant, finishes pleasantly bitter.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2004 Rerate: Full 750 to myself, thank to Mitt. A bit bitter/sour, exactly as Muzzlehatch says, but if you let it realy really watm up you can ofset some of that. Excellent and upped a tiny bit fromthe first very small sample. One of the State's truly great beers. Original: A delight. The aroma was top of the range. Slight coffee, the most amazing malt presence: A bit nut brown, a bit choc., some aromatic. Unbelievable and English in nature. Palate: Carbonated, and a tiny bit thin, but fits the style in body except for the carbo a bit. Flav: Spreads out, a tart back of the throat attack, smoky, roasty.

It had a powerful molasses aroma. Too much carbonation and is now one of my favorite beers.

After having such classics as speedway stout tonight I had chance of trying Cisco stuff. Dark coffee with great look, small but strong head. Aroma: raspberry-raisin plus coffee. Some guys love this one but this one was not for me (did not pleased me).

Initial pour, 1’ of beer and 5’ of foam. Tiny, tight bubbles streaming up the sides of the glass. Deep brown to near black color with, as time progressed, a thick pour. Tightly aligned bubbles made up the body of this at first huge head yet the surface was pillowy soft in texture. Heavily roasted aroma with a whisking of bread and stronger notes of chocolate. Flavors touch on deep roasted coffee, cocoa and dark fruits. Aside of the obvious cascade of carbonation this is perfection. Thanks to VENOM for this very special brew!

I’m not much of a porter fan, but this beer is phenominal

Add my name to the list who feel that this beer is overcarbonated. Dark brown; large aroma of brown malt, cocoa; has dry, crackerlike, toasty flavours though despite the dryness hop flavours are restrained.

A wild rollercoaster nose. Some Hershey’s syrup, raspberries, dough yeast. Had problems with the effervescence even after it had a long time to breathe. It did get better with less effervescence -- more texture but the finish is almost absent. This beer has great potential. Thank you, VENOM!
2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20 Shadallion (531) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 9, 2001
Outstanding aroma here: fresh hot chocolate with an under-current of breadiness. The actual beer however was a disappointment: very fizzy, effervescent body masks most of the flavors, but what did come through was a very chocolatey flavor with some roastiness. No aftertaste. My advice is to get a nice whiff from someone else’s glass, but don’t actually buy a glass yourself.
