COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This craft-brewed porter is made in very small batches right here on Nantucket. It is unfiltered and bottle-conditioned to ensure the freshest possible taste. Our porter is made with a blend of roasted barley, black patent, and chocolate malt for a smooth, chocolatey finish that goes famously well with oysters. Serve slightly chilled.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2006 2003 bottle. Aged some 16+ months. I opened this one and let it breath a good 8 hours before decanting. I really feel this helped. Pours a lovely transluscent oily brown. Lots of olive-brown tinges, light mahogany tones and some dark oak colors swirling around. Bottle conditioned, good off-white head and lacing. Aroma of light roast coffee, hints of chocolate and plenty of yeast! Flavor at first had me hating this beer, but I stuck with it and it became exceptionally unique. It starts out with a huge yeastiness that combines with the rich roastiness to really knock you back. Only a touch of coffee and sweetness. The typical wininess you get from Cisco to compound the already peculiar taste and you’ve got yourself one strange beer. But as it sits and breathes and I drink more; wow, this is a real porter. Medium light body, yeastiness and mustiness of an old ale, with nuts, light tofee and only a touch of sweetness. This is one hell of an authentic English porter! Wow, after it’s evened out and your palate gets used to it, you can just drink it right down. Hints of light coffee on the finish, good roasted barley, vinousness and of course a touch of black malt, but it’s all mixed well for a wonderful vintage effect. A true porter of old with plenty pleasing complexities. This isnt just a light caramelly Stegmaier or moderately chocolatey, thin Yuengling, this stuff has tons of character and tons of flavor. Outstanding. 7/5/8/5/18
2005 bottle Yet again, a perfect poor, dark chestnut brown, with crimson and violet tinges, head retained to perpetuity, lacing and unfiltered. In fact, I let the bottle breathe overnight and the next morning, there was still head in the bottle! Aroma of prunes, vinousness, raisins, rich earthy barley soaked in Burton water. Toffee, bakers chocolate, yeast, just lovely. Flavor is more of the same, bakers chocolate, earthy yeast, baked brown bread, raisins, prunes, concord grapes, barley and coffee on the end. Medium-full body, no wateriness, natural carbonation (let it breath!). Simply stunning, I am raising my rating. 9/5/9/5/19

Malt, coffee, chocolate, and roast in the aroma. Taste starts sweet, then finishes with coffee and cocoa/chocolate bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, but all in all this is really, really good.

My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous foamy beige head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dryish, meaty, toasty, woody and had light fruity hops and a hint of Baker’s chocolate. The flavor was dry, bitter and roasty with moderate smoke and wood and hints of vanilla and coffee. The finish was long, dry, bitter, roasty and smoky. Medium body. Eh.

Draft @ Monster B’s, Stamford, CT. This is a very silky feeling porter that provides a mouthfeel akin to a Guinness/soy milk hybrid. This beer has a splendid roasted barley flavor with a nice milk chocolate note. I would rate this beer even higher if it didn’t have a slight soapy aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a foamy tan head and rings of lacing. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Palate is smooth, but a bit on the thin side. Dry too. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee and cocoa. A fairly typical porter. Good stuff.

650 ml. bottle. Pours an exuberant, lasting, beige head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy brown (SRM 35) body...nose is coffee, chocolate, light green grass....taste is coffee, light cocoa, finishing with a bitter bite.....mouth feel light, carbonation after initial burst, adds a fizzy sensation. This is obviously a Porter and meets the style quite well. It is not as smoothly balanced as the best, and the finishing bitterness is slightly harsh. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7
