Very nice, clear dark amber liquid. Almost brown. Two finger head with decent retention. Excellent lacing. Very nice pumpkin smell is prominent. Smells like real pumpkin flesh. Typical spices are here, also. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and allspice. A touch of ginger. Good presence of sweet maltiness. Somewhat biscuity. Spicey! Man the spices shine through, proud and strong. Cinnamon and nutmeg dominate with ginger and allspice following closely behind. Very nice pumpkin flavor presence. Roasted pumpkin seeds are represented, as well. Biscuity taste, almost like pie crust. Slight hop kiss on the back end. All supported by a nice, but not overstated, sweet roasted malt backbone. Good medium bodied ale here. Nice creaminess. Not waterey thin, as some pumpkin ales tend to be. I’d say this one is pretty much just right. Along with Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout, this is a tie for my fave pumpkin brews. Very drinkable and very tasty. I’d like to know what the alcohol content is, though, as I feel it may be on the higher side. I can’t taste it, but I can feel it. My first LIF win! Thanks to corey0212 for this one. A- Very foggy, robust pumpkin colored body. Head fades quickly. completely. S- Spices are dominant in the nose. Pumpkins (of course) are behind this with a bit of a biscuty overtone. T-Cinnamon spice and nutmeg upfront and a nice moderate strength pumpkin background. The finish adds a shade of roasted bitterness as the end of the spices come through. P-Medium carbonation and medium-weight body that is quite smooth. O- This is really good pumpkin ale. Has to be up in my top 3 with ST and Weyerbacher. I like my pumpkin ales on the spicy side. It was a great opportunity to try this! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-16-2008 00:52:57

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2011 A deep amber brew with that characteristic Cisco yeast in suspension. Highly spiced aroma. Flavors are well spiced, especially the clove, but the spice also comes from some hops. Sweet malty and pumpkin backbone. Well done. 2011 update: now in 12 oz bottles. This one seems to be very roasty - sort of like roasted pumpkin seeds. I like it! (slight uptick warranted)

22oz Bottle. Nice mint and lightly aromatic pumpkin spice. Obviously with a bit of hop leaf right out front. Pours a very clear even orange, with a whitish head. Flavors are very nice. Fresh pumpkin pie with restrained spices and complimenting minty hop flavors. Earthy and starchy pumpkin is a little buried, but the spices hold back enough to allow malts to come through. Well built. Just shy an ethereal character that would it into the other world category (a la Selin’s Grove).

An alright pumpkin beer. peachy color to it. It needed more autumn spice to it, like nutmeg and coriander. The head was small, but that didn’t stop me.

Pours a translucent rust orange with a yellow tinted, sturdy beige head that retains very well. Great lacing is left as well. The nose is characterized by potent spices including clove, nutmeg, all spice, and possibly ginger. The pumpkin character is minimal and is masked by notes of peach, dust, and some bready malts. The flavour is light and fruity, with plenty of autumn spice, pumpkin, peach, lemon grass hops, raw grain and some bready malts. The alcohol is very well hidden and the aftertaste leaves a grassy bitterness. The body is creamy, gently carbonated, but appropriately, and the finish is crisp and drying. There is a vegetal character to the flavour, but it isnt horribly offensive, in fact it is rather nice. This is a quality, spicy pumpkin beer that ups the booze, body and meaty pumpkin flavour without overdoing the spices.

Pours a thick tan head with some minor spotted lacing and it never fades away. The nose is nice and robust revealing lots of floral hops with some fall spice with a blend of dusty malt and apricot. The flavor is rich and creamy with yet again a spicy hop bite and a creamy caramel malt finish. For a fall beer it is very earthy and dusty with a full body and the booze is somewhat potent. Overall it has good carbonation and is well balanced revealing a lot of flavor with a solid backbone.

Picked this one up at Gordon’s. Pours a deep, clear copper with a thick creamy beige head that lingered just a little and left some spots of foam on the sides while settling in as a thin collar. The aroma is, not surprisingly, heavy on the spices with lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and pie spices in general. There is some sweet pumpkin and sugary malts as well. The taste starts out with the initial pumpkin spice kick, heavy on the nutmeg this time with cinnamon in the background. The malts form a solid backbone and the finish is spicy and sweet all in one. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of carbonation and spicy and dry on the palate. This is a very good pumpkin beer and one of the best ones I’ve had this season. Highly recommended.

still not sure what the hell the name means, but it makes me laugh. definitely one of the better pumpkin ales out there, doesnt taste fake or overly sweet like some do, and it doesnt try to literally taste like pumpkins like others do too. this does have some pumpkin-ish taste to it, but its more about the spices that make this a better beer than most. really delicious.

Crystal clear, dark amber color. Thick off-white head that leaves a sheet of lace on the glass. Nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and brown sugar are the strongest smells. Reminds me of pumpkin bread, not pumpkin pie. Tis the season for the Pumpkin Ales, especially in New England. This one is better than most. Good hop presence, lots of pumpkin bread flavors. The "pumpkin" seasoning takes a back seat here, which is refreshing from the usual fare of over-spiced autumn offerings. While I’m reluctant to describe this as a spiced pale ale, it has elements of both. In short, I’d describe this as a beer lovers Pumpkin Spiced Ale. It is far easier to enjoy than the "pie" beers. I think it’s my favorite of this style.
