COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

From a bottle. Pours hazy light gold with a bubbly frothy white head. Tastes light and crisp, like grass and straw, mellow malt, light hop bitterness, musky, lightly floral. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like honey, musky, hay, and light hops.

After drinking hearty American lagers this reminded me of Budweiser. Disappointing.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a light yellow color with a decent transparency about it to allow a light carbonation seen rising in streams. There was a two finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some spider web lacing speckling the glass. The smell had a light sweet corn with a slight sweet cereal. The taste was mainly sweet through the corn and cereal, it gets a little bready in the flavor. On the palate, this one sat pretty light and came across pretty sessionable. The carbonation was there and good for its style and to me. Overall, I say this was a pretty good premium lager.

Has a cereal lemon aroma. Yellow body with a fine foam head that laces the glass nicely. The body is a clear light amber with active carbonation. The has a mild yeast malt taste with a hint of lemon. Has a slightly heavy heavy feel but remains refreshing and on the light side.
