COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Pours pale gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving slight spots to skim surface. Sour malt and marshmallow aromas. Thin and bready with upfront caramel and a mild hop finish.

draft. Clear yellow golden. Some scothcy malts are evident to smell as well as some corn/cereal lager notes. Chewy layered body reveals more to taste than this brew does to the eye or nose. Crisp clean finish is typical of the style and provides refreshing balance, better for spicy stuff one would suppose.

Pours a dark golden color with a white foamy head. Head receeds well and leaves a thick lacing along the glass. Nose is grainy with some light grassy hop notes. Palate is failry full with some nice fizziness and a sticky finish. Flavor is a bit lost, kinda dirty. Has some decent grain notes with hints of cereal and a nice bitter finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours light amber in colour, good head, long retention. Has nice floral hops aroma. Flavour is balanced, not too hoppy, a little on the sweet side.

Bottle. Note: my bottle seemed to be completely infected with diacytl. The beer exploded from the bottle when opened. In need of a re-rate.

Bottle. Pours gold with a fluffy white head. The aroma is light and malty with a touch of citrus. The flavor is crisp, clean, and well balanced, with caramel malt and citrusy hops. Nice.

Golden in coloration, hints of cereal. I ended the night with one of these last weekend and feel its about time I put my two cents in since I have been drinking it on and off for a while. Not a bad beer for a "light beer", tastes better than most light beers but has more calories.

Maybe a bit too light for me, but this is what the big brewers should aspire to for the mass market. A touch of hops and malt, easy to drink

(Bottle). Hoppy citrus aroma. Hazy orange-amber body, lots of sediment, huge white head. Flavor is tart, citrusy, very pleasant. Nice one.

It is indeed like an "IPA lite". There are ghostly wisps of piney citrus hops, but it is quite light on the tongue. Pretty good, and would be great on a hot day.
