COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Very light yellow with a good fluffy head. Has a slightly lemony sour taste. Some bitterness on the finish. Probably the best light beer Ive ever tried, doesnt taste light at all. Blows away Sam Light. Hard to get though if youre not in Mass.

What a surprise. Poured a cloudy golden body with only a smallish head... no volcanic activity this time through. Aroma was grassy hops and bready malts with lotsa lighter fruits and a hint of their house character. Flavor was the same, medium bodied. Tasty and complex for a ’light’ beer. This > Sam Adams Light.

Pours a two-finger white head that fades to a thin layer leaving some lace. Nearly clear light amber color. Good carbonation and light-medium bodied. Skunky nose. Starts mellow but hops increase to finish with some bitterness. Not your usual light. $1.50 for a 12 oz bottle from Capital Convenience Concord, NH.

12 oz bottle-pours a foamy white head with hazy straw-yellow color. Aroma from 3 feet away the nose is citrus hops. Closer up to the glass, add in malty and coffee. Taste is crisp, hops, then malt along with this beer’s only drawback, a flatness. Enjoyable.

cloudy gold, thin white lacing and some sparkling bubbly characteristics. aroma is fruity, apples and oranges. more body and flavor than a BMC llight beer, with nice maltiness and a medium hop tail. the fruitiness in the aroma is present in the flavor as well, just enough to compliment the caramel and grassy hops.

I should have known when Cisco advertised the release of a "light" beer that it would be anything but. Pours copper with a decent white head. Smells grassy with some morning dew qualities. Taste is sweet with some decent strawberry like qualities and a spicey finish.

Bottle. Dark gold with a big fluffy white head that left bits of lacing as it faded. Nose: light citrus and floral hops and biscuity malt. Taste: Cream Lunch crackers, and sugared white grapefruit. Kudos to the brewery for making this beer less explosive than most of their offerings.

2005 bottles (4 pack) consumed 6/11/05. Pours a very deep brass-gold colored body, clear and with, surprisingly, not an intense amount of head. Still a good amount of white head, but it’s not frothing over and keeping you from pouring the whole bottle. But then, it’s less of a surprise when you see the reason, the beer is filtered. Whatever, that’s a light beer, I don’t hold it against them. There is light lacing, though. Aroma shows sweaty hay and bread like pale malt, bits of sugary dough and a hint of earthy, lightly bitter hops. Flavor is quite sweet, surprisingly, I didnt realize this was only 3.8 abv, and it dosent show, in that it is not watery and bland. Far from it, in fact, as this still has a lot of house character, that sort of minerals and funky yeast character of the brewery. Sweet and lightly sugary, it has very low bitterness. The body is medium though, and it does get a bit thin towards the end. But the mouthfeel is not overcarbonated, just sort of round and there. Interesting, and not at all a watery, crappy light beer. But I didnt expect that, anyways.
