Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy pale golden amber-ish with a small frothy white head. Aromas of orange, dough, soft citrus hops, and light coriander. Flavor is doughy malt, a little butter, grass, and a little bitter grass in the finish. Light, with medium carbonation. Alright.

Hazy, yellow/gold appearance with a small white head and little lacing. Grassy aroma with floral hops lingering in thebackgrfound. A touch of citrus ahead of sweet, grainy, metallic flavors. Medium-to-light bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel. Slightly acidic, short lived finish.

This is a beautiful clear golden lager with nice white head and carbonation. Light biscuit aroma, but a little sour. Flavor is very satisfying and balanced with the light malts and hops. Finish is slight spice and fruit of the hops. Clean and very refreshing.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body with a nice large fizzy white head that left some nice lacing. The nose is fairly nice bready malt with a light lemony note. Nice light accent of floral hops. The flavor is just lightly malty and has a bit of a perfumy quality from the light hopping. Some light lingering bready malts. Light bodied and fizzy, it’s actually pretty refreshing on a hot evening.

Bottle. Pale golden with white head. Aroma has lots of light grain and earthy hop character, overall pretty plain. Taste goes light but flavorful hoppy lager. Grassy. Simple and very sessionable.

Draught. Light amber pour with a thin off white head. Aroma of malt and faint wheat. Light body that goes down nicely with a slight lingering malt finish. Great session lager.

12oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow. Typical low alcohol, light beer skunky taste. Slightly better than most of the light beer macros out there. It is worth noting though that the calories and carbs are the exact same amount that a Guinness has. I for one will stick with the Guinness.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow. Head dissipates quickly but leaves some nice lacing. Smell is light malt and grassy hops. The taste is of yeast with some very slight hops and a citrus zest. Clean dry finish. Body and carbonation are pretty balanced. Overall this has very good drinkability. At only 3.8% ABV it makes a very nice session beer.
