Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Pleasant, malty, APA aroma - not too aggressive on the west coast hops, a little buttery and cereal. Clear, light pine gold; good label, standard US longneck. Spirited - lemony and zippy hops. Medium-light body, crisp without being too fizzy. This is a great summer beer - easy drinking, but with character. ABC Liquors, Betton.

On draft at the Renaissance Hotel in Providence. A very thin lager with additional hop flavor. Thin palate. Probably good for the calorie counter.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine and Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Medium golden pour, soft white head, nice bubble action. Aroma is somewhat neutral with just a hint of fresh lake water, some grainy notes. Crisp flavor with some light hoppy notes, some graininess, a touch of baked bread. Crisp mouthfeel. Refreshing.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow color with thin foamy white head. Nose was grassy, hay, and bready, with a touch of lemon zest. Flavor was slight bitter up front, with sweet corn and wheat, bready notes, and slight citrus. Bittersweet finish. Nice.

Can. Pours a clear golden color with a fairly thick white head. Nose is very light, to the point that I get almost no smell. Taste is also super light - almost like water. Meh.

12 oz Can. Golden yellow w/ medium white head. Nice crisp taste but does not deliver on the "strong hop taste". All in all a very good light beer and the fact that it comes in cans and has a 3.6% abv makes it an excellent cookout/beach beer.

I really like this ale. Pours very golden yellow on color. Really smooth and not overpowering in taste. Has a nice fruity taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pale gold pour with a small white head. Mostly hay, some light fruit sweetness. Decent for its style.
