Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

12 oz can pours a pale golden with large fluffy white head but little lacing. Aroma has hay, floral hops, and lemon. Taste is bitter with a short but clean finish. Body is light with good carbonation. Quite enjoyable for a light lager.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Almost clear light golden color with a medium white head. Light malt aroma with very mellow fruity notes (pomelo peel) and faint floral hops. Bready flavors, low bitterness, clean mellow malt. Light body, well carbonated, quaffable, short finish, OK for style.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear golden with a medium frothy white head. Aroma of hay, light graininess, a bit of bread and floral and grassy hops. Sweetish malt flavor with a hint of grain and a clean mild floral hops bitterness. Medium-bodied. Tasty, crisp and refreshing.

A nice clear crisp looking golden body with a nice white head that had great retention and some lace. A mild presence of carbonation. Aroma had a nice bread and almost doughy like quality to it. There was a slight lemon note to it. Flavor was slightly peppery with good bread notes, some subtle sweetness to it. A smooth easy to drink beer with a nice crisp finish.

12oz bottle. Clear yellow. White head. Aroma of cardboard is perfect. Nice straw. Floral hops flavor, heavy straw / hay. Soapy finish. Yeast profile of this beer makes all of the difference. Clean, well balanced, a very great beer. Good for style. (3489)

Sour fruit aroma. Dull pale gold in color. Balanced and palatable, but not terribly exciting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
