Ed. Note: Although this beer was originally an American Golden Ale, after a short period of time the brewer changed the yeast strain, and it is now a lager. This 126 calorie lager with wonderful balance and strong hop finish is unlike most light beers. Reminiscent of an IPA but smooth and easy to drink.
It is named after the famous lighthouse that has stood on a bluff on the south eastern side of Nantucket Island since 1849. Perched precariously 88 feet above the raging Atlantic Ocean, Sankaty Head Light is in danger of falling prey to beach erosion. The lighthouse is the most powerful in New England.

Bottle. Light golden pour. Floral, hey and a bit of fruits. Light medium (for a light beer) body. Much nicer than most light beer

Per the commercial deScription, no. No it’s not reminiscent of an IPA. It has a modest hop nose if at all, a bit of straw. Somewhat clean sweetish grainy flavor, no hop flavors, almost no finishing bitterness. Empty flavor. Not a watery body thankfully, and surprisingly given the low ABV. I get the vaguest hint of strawberry somehow, so maybe not so clean afterall. Anyway, it’s kind of pointless. When I want a light lager (which is mostly never), I’m not gonna pay craft beer prices for it.

12oz bottle pours a clear pale golden with a large white head. Bready malt aroma with some yeast and light hop. Very light, bready yeast and caramel malt with light citrus hops and a mild bitterness on the finish. Not bad, drinkable.

Bottle. Clear yellow with a thin, foamy, off-white head that lasts whisky as well as the lacing. Aromas of sweet grain, light biscuit, pine and citrus. Flavor is the same with some yeasty notes. Light bodied, crisp with a dry end.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin white head that dissipates fast. Taste is of grass, grain, hops, citrus and malt. Similar aroma. Has a mostly full body with a slight dry and bitter finish. Easy to drink and quite enjoyable.

I don’t know where this one goes wrong exactly, but it does. Thin, skunky, anemic yellow, bitter without needing to be.

from old notes: Tastes light a bad or better Heineken. Either way I must hate this style. Super dank ripe fruit yuckness. Maybe just not in the mood. Bottle at tavern 23 in New York.

Pale and yellow and really light. Aroma is nice and head is thick. No other nice things to say.

From a bottle. Pours hazy light gold with a bubbly frothy white head. Tastes light and crisp, like grass and straw, mellow malt, light hop bitterness, musky, lightly floral. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like honey, musky, hay, and light hops.
