3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Vac (2442) - Soon to be back in San Diego, California, USA - SEP 8, 2003
Pours with a deep golden body topped by a medium thick white head with good lacing. Slightly sweet yeasty aroma with lemony notes. Slightly sweet yet sour and citrusy flavor with yeasty notes. Light bodied, smooth and crisp. Reminded me more of a hefeweizen than a lager.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 OldGrowth (1859) - North Carolina, USA - SEP 3, 2003
Bottle: O.k. nose straw, tea, yeast all come to mind. Golden color. Just a tad cloudy. Not much head, but as said before I've learned to pour them slow. sweet malt flavor. a little of that honey hard candy taste with a enough hops bitterness to balance. Very drinkable smooth, crisp, clean (I think I've heard that before) Definately a good one to convince people to try micro's

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2008 Multiple rerates later: Too many infected bottles, unfortunately. Was once a giant, subpar through 2006...Original: Full bodied and delicious doesn’t begin to describe this beer. Cloudy, hefty (but not exactly oily), dimished carbonation compared to the rest of cisco’s beers, perfect head. Yeasty, almost sour notes to start. Hop character (slight tingly haylike qualities) and huge pale malt drips all over. A wonderful beer. Thanks to both Ma_beer and OldGrowth for sending this one (and it’s stablemates).

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2003 Wow! This stuff is Amazing! Much more than I had expected from a Dortmunder. The color is a glowing golden-orange, not yellow at all. Opaque, but not cloudy. Aroma is somewhat sweet, like honey, but not sickening at all. The flavor, oh my! What a unique beverage. It makes my mouth dance with pleasure! A remarkable product from a local, small-batch brewer. Post-script: Recent bottle poured almost clear. Flavor still great, but the second glass had more "chaff" and solids in suspension, much more interesting this way: I suggest if you've got a bottle that's been sitting upright a few days, tip it gently before you open to distribute the solids more evenly. The character is definately better this way!

Armoa is sweet and hoppy. Color, honey brown. It starts off with a bitter bite finishes with a hoppy leave. Nice citrus overtones.

Golden yellow hue. Small sticky white head. Herbal, fuzzy, honey, sweet, pleasant hop nose. Starts sweet, dough, medium bodied, finishes pleasantly bitter, tea like, with a yeasty twang. Very nice, Im impressed.

Stoplight yellow in color; Head had medium bubbles and good retention; Aroma of Saaz. Crisp, clean- a mild pils.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 22, 2002
UPDATED: JUL 31, 2004 $6.99 for a 750ml bottle. A bit expensive for a low gravity beer. However, the Cisco beers are rare. This beer is bottle-conditioned, which is unusual for a lager, but a few examples can be found. Hazy golden color. Thin white head that does leave lace. The nose is malty (honey), with spicy hops. The body of the brew is medium. I get tea flavors in the finish which I think comes from a healthy dose of noble hop variaties. The front of the palate is fairly bitter. The beer is very drinkable. From a style point of view this beer is hard to classify.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jcalbi (378) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 28, 2002
Golden yellow/straw appearance with a slight chill haze. Bubbly white head. Moderate hop aroma that is akin to taking a deep breath in field of tall grass and wild flowers. The hop flavor blankets your entire palate. Not as carbed as I was led to believe (but then I made sure I chilled this puppy real good), it was, in fact pleasingly subtle. A very full bodied malt profile as well. You guys make great beers, so how about getting them off that sand bar and down to Jersey!

Just a great beer. . . especially in the 64 oz. jugs.
