3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Brigadier (1938) - Bloomington, USA - DEC 18, 2006
Milwaukee YeHA! 2006
Thanks to Joel (StewartOfGondor) from bringing this up from his cellar. It was an interesting and very unique beer. I don’t think I have ever had something with this combination of flavors that was so easy to drink. It suprises me to find out it is almost 10% - I would never have guessed that from the way it went down.
Aroma / Appearance - Godiva chocolate dipped strawberries, melons and a melody of other fresh fruits form a very sweet nose. The body is a deep chocolate brown with no head. A little light was able to escape but on the whole it was pretty opaque.
Flavor / Palate - Caramel, strawberries and chocolate form a relatively simple but fun mouthfeel. The finish is tart and fruity, accenting the fruit in this fruit beer. If there would have been more left over I would have easily finished it off had my stomach not been so full. If you can manage to get your hands on this soon, give it a try.

Definitely a big strawberry presence, both in the nose and in the flavor. Very tart and fruity with almost a lambic thing going on. Interesting.

on tap at gabf. I tasted it hoping to enjoy the strawberries, but was greeted instead by a sharp palate, a wild yeast, and not much strawnberry flavor. Perhaps it needs to wait another year to mellow?

Thanks to Steward of Ghondor for sharing this. Nice brown color, off white head. Nose is strawberries with a touch of oak and vanilla. Cool! Flavor is slightly dissapointing, the berries are there, the wood is there, its just missing the mouthfeel the nose aluded to.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6834) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 17, 2007
Bottle shared by StewardofGondor on 12/16/06: Pours a clear copper bronze with wispy-lacing off-white head. Complex, sweet caramel malty aroma has some fruity cherry notes. Body starts lightly sweet and full with some complex oaky bourbon notes and a smoother, slightly warming drier finish. A unique and enjoyable brew.
