COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An amber English-style ale that has a nice balance between hops and malt. It's the most popular of our beers and the most versatile in terms of pairing with food or people.

There are 2 beers that I attribute to having opened my mind to the true world of beer. Sam Adams Boston Lager taught me there is more to beer than Bud and Coors. Cisco’s Whales Tale Pale Ale opened my senses to the hoppier side of life. However, I have not had the pleasure of revisiting this brew since my wife and I took a trip to Nantucket back in October, 1998. Finally (thanks to VENOM) I had that opportunity. Mandarin orange color with a cloudy/yeasty appearance. Creamy and persistent off white head. Very floral hop dominated nose. Full bodied and heavily carbonated, though not out of control. A tangy hop bitterness with an underlying malt base that does tone the hops down, but not out. Excellent Pale Ale.

A great refreshing handcrafted English style ale. Not overly hoppy, has a bold tast and smooth finish.

I got this as a gift and loved it. Very hoppy, but great. A lot of carbination, but it adds to the flavor

Video review at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bQ9HhnNIEs

Appearance: Dark amber fades to golden glow, ½-finger head dissipates to layering, above average lacing

Smell: Apricot, grapefruit, orange juice citrus, carmel + bready malts, earthiness

Taste: Medium body, white grape, Champagne, grapefruit, apricot, carmel malts, doughy bread, green tea, pine, earthiness + dead pine wood residual, plum afterthought, incredibly crisp + clean, mild carbonation

Pairings: Lobster, lobster roll

12 oz bottle-pours a 2 finger high, rich, rocky, tan head that laces. Cloudy burnt orange color with effervescence. Aroma is malt, creamy, musty, background hops. Taste is a burst of hops with some bite, then balanced by a creamy, sweet malt and fruity. Nice. (much different tasting when I had it later with food)

Aroma is of butterscotch or caramel. Color is gold with a little bit of head. Taste is nicely malt forward. Has a little bit of hops to offset the malt very nice.

Had this from a bottle at The Oyster Bar at Grand Central in Manhattan. Nose of spices & perfume, pine & citrus, as the brew warms a note of flowers blooms to round out the aroma. Pours a clear copper. The creamy off-white head is fully lasting with good lace. The flavor has exceptional balance & depth. The finish is subdued and very subtle. The medium body is dry and soft. An excellent accompaniment to my meal.

hazy copper colour, floral hop aroma, bubbling from a frothy white head. a tasty strongly hopped APA reminiscent of Great Lakes burning river.
