2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A typical winter ale in that it has notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pours a deep dark color with a mild head. Not to shabby.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle. Pours reddish brown with a decent beige head. Aroma of malt and spice. Taste is the same, but with a touch of pine. Simple.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Winter 2013/2014 bottle, drunk 4/6/14
Clear, auburn-mahogany body is topped by a fair amount of light beige head that recedes slowly to cover.
Hard crystal malts, some pepper and bitter, slightly pine-laden hops in the nose leave little room for much nuance or livliness. Some slight breadiness and stale, pre-oxidative notes are quite prevalent. No alcohol, but itís not the cleanest of noses despite what has to be a pretty high filtration level.
Flavor is equally uninspiring. Hard, lifeless crystal malts are scratchy, dry and the spritzy carbonation is too aggressive and yet not tight at all. Some odd pine resin, with little actual hop flavor and light licorice/black pepper on the finish. Bitter, astringent and with these terribly hard, scratchy malts and no suppleness/sweetness whatsoever. Heavily lifeless feeling, no doubt thanks to the filtration.
The disparity between Ciscoís 12oz bottles and their 750mL bottle line is laughable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Amber. Medium-body, soft carbonation. Has that pleasant winter ale spice aroma. Doughy going down but a nice, slightly fruity, ginger after-taste. Like Iím drinking tree saplings, which is fine. An enjoyable winter ale.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tap. Pours a nice dark caramel with no head. Aroma is somewhat sweet. Bartender told me this was a mead mixed with something. Weird spices, black licorice on the tongue. Black licorice fucking hammered my senses.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Cisco Brew Pub, Boston Logan Airport. An attractive copper colour with a ring of cream head that laced the glass nicely; spicy malt aroma; smooth with a caramel taste; and a dry finish with a touch of spice. Warming and satisfying.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy copper pour. Thin head. Sweet and spiced aroma, typical for class. Somewhat bland for a Winter beer but enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle poured a red highlighted brown color with a thin cap of off white head. Aroma has a pleasant hop profile, mild spices, and sweet malts. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation on the lower side. Flavor again has an interesting hop, sweet malt, spices, and a clean finish.

1/19/14. 12oz bottle thanks to Aurelius! I canít believe I havenít rated this before. I am beginning to have some weird suspicions that certain ratings are getting deleted. Oh well. Clearish amber red pour with a small khaki head that fades. Malty aroma, light spiciness, some tinny aspects. Malty flavor, a hint of spice, metallic, and a dose of what remind me of ketchup. Meh.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2014 Bottle- copper/burgundy. Translucent with visible carbonation. Pours to a small, off white head. Its smells piney and hoppy. it reminds me of summer and Christmas. Its a good brew. Easy to drink. Overall I would choose a different winter brew, but it is still a dang good beer.
