2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A typical winter ale in that it has notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pours a deep dark color with a mild head. Not to shabby.

A nice winter warmer style beer. On aroma you can pick up malts, spices. On the taste you can pick up some dark fruit, more spices and malts. It has a nice palate also.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Listed as a braggot on Untappd, but no matter its classification, I dig it. Chestnut color with thin head and lacing. Some hop presence, toffee, spices, almost a lighter barley wine flavor.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy amber with half inch light tan head that lasts. Taste is of malt, caramel, nuts, spice, hops, coriander, nutmeg and ginger. Similar aroma. Has a decent body with a boozy finish. Enjoyable seasonal offering.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle poured a medium reddish brown that is clear, minimal lacing and minimal head. the aroma is actually better than the flavor...mild to medium spice, some malt and bread and almost an alcohol burn on the end. the flavor is milder than the aroma. mild mild malt base with little to no spice on the tongue..minimal alcohol in the flavor as well...one of the weaker Christmas ales I have tried this month.

I think I didn't behave for Xmas 2014, as the two Xmas biers I drank, were not as expected! Anyhow, smooth Ale, spice traces, not a very happy Xmas for me so far!

(Rating #5790)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to ruddy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sliding into the beer.
The smell had a decent light winter spices of ginger, allspice and clove.
The taste was mainly spicy with a gentle bready sweetness to balance.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there and decent for the winter warmer style and for me.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good winter warmer I’d have again.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Winter 2013/2014 bottle, drunk 4/6/14
Clear, auburn-mahogany body is topped by a fair amount of light beige head that recedes slowly to cover.
Hard crystal malts, some pepper and bitter, slightly pine-laden hops in the nose leave little room for much nuance or livliness. Some slight breadiness and stale, pre-oxidative notes are quite prevalent. No alcohol, but it’s not the cleanest of noses despite what has to be a pretty high filtration level.
Flavor is equally uninspiring. Hard, lifeless crystal malts are scratchy, dry and the spritzy carbonation is too aggressive and yet not tight at all. Some odd pine resin, with little actual hop flavor and light licorice/black pepper on the finish. Bitter, astringent and with these terribly hard, scratchy malts and no suppleness/sweetness whatsoever. Heavily lifeless feeling, no doubt thanks to the filtration.
The disparity between Cisco’s 12oz bottles and their 750mL bottle line is laughable.

Bottle. Amber. Medium-body, soft carbonation. Has that pleasant winter ale spice aroma. Doughy going down but a nice, slightly fruity, ginger after-taste. Like I’m drinking tree saplings, which is fine. An enjoyable winter ale.
