3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - APR 23, 2011
Reviewed from notes. Pours a dark brown color with a bit of a reddish tint. Off white head with some moderate lacing. The nose brings forward quite a bit of sourness along with some nice cherry character as well as a bit of spice. The flavor doesn’t meld completely as the spice and the fruit never fit together all that well. A slight barrel character is there as well. Medium body and slightly sour with a dry finish. Bit of mild earth lingers throughout. Pretty good, though not as good as others I’ve had from them.

Bottle… Dime-n-Hetfield’s "All the Way to 1K" Throwdown… Cloudy burnt-orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The aroma offers raw wood, caramel and funky vintage cheese underscored by a light herbal component. Medium to full-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and busy carbonation. The flavor is tart and a bit funky, but immaculately balanced. Modest, yeasty, earthy bitterness accompanies low caramel sweetness. Tart, tangy, dry finish. Bottle courtesy of dimenhetfield. Thanks, Casey, and congratulations on 1,000 ratings!

It pours a dark amber colour with a tan head.
This ones smells weird, must be the spices and cherry wood that gives a somewhat cedar wood like aroma.
Flavour is sourish and very spicy in a bad way with oak and caramel notes.
