A heavy strong stout brewed with coffee, brown sugar and oats. With its powerful quality and morning ingredients it seems parallel to a solid dawn session at Blacks. An inside connection to boutique roasted fare trade beans we were granted the opportunity to make this exceptional brew.

Tasting at the pad of the ever gracious Bruce. Opaque brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth with mild carbonation. Smooth dark malt, light touches of malt cream and dark chocolate. Nice generic darkish fruits underneath. Smooth finish. Well joined up and tasty.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Pitch black color with compact brownish head. Strong aroma of coffee and resiny hops. Thick mouthfeel; strong flavor of roasted malts and some coffee, not too ashy, with moderate residual sweetness and the hop qualities mostly hidden; strong bitterness. There is some lactose in the final.
Quite decent, but if you fancy coffee brews.

Bottle 500ml (ABM, BB 06/2015)
Dark brown color, steady brownish head, lace. Sticky cellary aroma with faint hints of coffee. Medium-bodied. Flavor has lots of coffee, roastyness but also vinegar and cellar. Unfortunately.

Draught @ Stateside Craft.
Medium brown, light bubbly head. Aroma is a coffee blast with light fruitiness and a hint of chocolate. Sweet front, lots of coffee/chocolate character, with big body. Call it a strong coffee stout, more than impy, but nerdy semantics aside, itís a quality brew.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to C-Dog. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. Rich chocolate on the nose with burnt marshmallows and burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor with lots of charred malts, dirt, rich chocolate, dark fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with further rich, complex chocolate character, decent roast, charred wood. Good stuff. Nice creamy, dark chocolate. Delicious.

A: The pour is nearly black with a thin layer of mocha colored foam that has pretty decent retention. S: Tons and tons of coffee on the nose. Lots of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, and a lot more coffee just for good measure. Pretty simple, but very enjoyable. T: Again, the coffee steals the show. There is a mild caramel malt sweetness and a fairly significant roasted malt flavor, too, but the flavor is certainly characterized by the coffee. There is a slight creaminess to the finish, which is nice. M: The body is medium, not super rich for an imperial stout, but adequate, and the carbonation is medium. D: I wasnít sure how good this one would be, but I had heard a couple people recommend it and Iím glad they did. A very enjoyable beer.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours very dark brown with a 3 finger frothy/creamy dark tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and burnt malt with a hint of ethanol. Full bodied. Flavor is smooth and silky chocolate, coffee and refined burnt malt. Just excellent. Itís bitter, and that could be from the malt. Heat? Not bothering me a bit. Finishes dry, and bitter.
