COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black’s Dusk: a hearty stout brewed with brown sugar and oats, aged in red wine barrels for 5-8 months. With its robust, silky quality, a hint of red wine and toasted oak it seems to parallel a dusk occean swell. This beer is to be sipped and savored with friends just as you would savor the last moments of daylight at the beach.

750 ml bottle via trade (sorry the name rubbed off). Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma had wood, roasted malts, dark fruits and red wine with mild sweetness. The flavor had a nice blending of red wine vinous notes, wood, and roasted malts. Hints of chocolate. medium bodied and pretty tasty. I like what the barrel did for this.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate and roasted malt aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses and chocolate flavor with a dry slightly sour wine finish.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s Christmas tasting. ThanksLeighton for this one I believe. It pours a clean brown color with ruby edges and a small creamy tan head. Slightly sour fruity juicy light roasted light brownies. Not sure of infected, certainly drinkable and reasonably pleasant

Bottle shared at chriso’s pre-Christmas tasting. Label says 8.5%. Pours clear, black-brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma holds tangy dark malts, dark berries, mild cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with gooey, ripe and tangy berries, dark fruits, suggestions of something a little buggy and funky, a bit of chocolate, burnt wood, earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming and chewy on the finish, a little tannic, with notes of cocoa, roast, charred wood and earth, dried and leathery dark fruits. Pretty good.

Bottle shared at chriso’s winter tasting 8/12/2014. thick dark opaque back coloured pour with a fleeting light tan head. Aroma is coco nibs, soft choc, light berry, little brett funk on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of nutty chocolate, coco nibs, funky brett funk, pineapple, musty. Palate is medium full bodied, soft carbonation, spicy, tart edge. Linger coco and tart berry. A bit odd but it kinda works.

Black body, light brown head. Aroma has red wine, berries, roasted fruits, dark chocolate and bit sorbus. Flavour has sorbus too. Very interesting flavours but it feels like the imperial stout is not just good enough. There is potential to be much better beer than it is. Bit watery winey palate. Strange.

500 ml bottle. Pours a deep brown, almost black colour with a small head. Aroma of roastiness, red wine, some butter and wood. Rich flavour of roasted malts, strong wooden notes, red wine, berries, herbs, burnt bread, grassy bitterness and mellow sweetness. Full bodied. Very smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Beautiful balance. Brilliant stuff. Really unique.

500 ml bottle. From alesbymail.co.uk.
Black colour with a small tan head. Roasted malt, red wine, berries, cherry and some sweetness and mild sourness in the aroma. A bit of an unexpected aroma. The flavour is dark fruits, bitterness, mild sourness, milky roasted malt and slightly fermented berries. From dusk till dawn. Highly drinkable for a 10% Impy.

22 oz bottle shared by Bill, thanks man! Pours a dark brown nearing black with a dark beige head that lingers and heads toward the edge. Light passes as maroon when backlit. Aroma is sweet and vinous: toasted malt, dark fruits, wine like complexity, anise bitterness, oak sweetness. Flavor is same with dark fruit (black cherries) dominating, and a certain cinnamon-like spicy complexity from the carbonation. Medium to full bodied, sugary viscosity, and a roasty brown sugar finish.

Bottle shared by RussianDragon. Thanks Dave. The beer is dark brown, near black, with a quarter inch of oily beige collar. Aromas of dark fruits, berries, chocolate, oak, red wine. Vinous and chocolaty. Medium sweetness throughout with a tannic finish. An interesting beer.

Bottle from Marketplace Alehouse and Deli, Doncaster. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Halo of tan head. Coffee. Vanilla. Light, roast coffee bean. Mostly sour cherry, raspberry, and woody, red wine vinous, though. Taste is tart dry. Palate is all that, which is fine if you’re ok with the tartness. I was expecting some richness that didn’t materialise. Same for the finish. Hard work by the end.
