This beer was formerly known as "Cismontane California Common Pilot #1"

The California Common almost disappeared after prohibition as did the term Cismontane. Our interpretation of this style is a golden warm fermented lager with sufficient hop aroma. As a brewer and citizen of Cismontane California it is our obligation to produce a fine California Common.

Pours a clear, slightly hazy vivid copper gold. Nice foamy white head. Smells very good - crisp citrus hops, grain, and lager yeast. Tastes very refreshing, clean and fresh - citrus hops and lager. The body is light and fits well with the other components. Active carbonation that doesn’t get in the way. A nice surprise extra in a trade. Paired well with a steak teriyaki dinner.

Thanks to JPDurden24 for sharing this. It pours a clear gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is nice and estery with pears and apples and lagery yeastiness around the edges. The taste is similar with sweet apple and pear esters mixing with a bit of bitter hoppy spiciness. To midway the hop spiciness gets a little more earthy and gravel like in its bitterness. This offers a nice blend of sweet esters and bitter hoppiness. I like it.

Bottle purchased at Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. The aroma is initially sweet, sugary with hints of priming sugar. Light noble, floral hop aroma, without much else happening here. Transparent golden-orange body with a rocky, pillowy white head present. Nice head retention. Starts highly carbonated with an aggressive, earthy bitterness present. Light biscuit in the middle, before this finishes with more bitter, earthy hop flavors. An interesting beer, but not one I am in love with.

A - Pours a clear golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head, The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel and grainy malts with citrus and floral hops with a bit of lager yeast. T - Starts off with a mix of sweet caramel and grainy malts with some citrus hops and a bit of bitterness. Through the middle, some light pine hops with some more bitterness comes through some more bready and biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of sweet grainy and caramel malts with citrus hops, light bitterness, and a touch of lager yeast. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and lightly sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice California common with a good malt and hop balance.

not sure why this beer gets such low ratings. I wonder if people don’t understand the style. More malt flavor, more hop bitterness and more abv than others of the style. I love the pale ale qualities with the lager finish. Awesome warm weather beer!
