4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bright golden orange with nice head. Smells great slightly earthy, malty with hints of the grassy, piney hops.
Taste: crisp and refreshing with notes of creamy nuttyness and caramel malts. Hops are more on the finish with some piney, herbal notes.
Mouthfeel is good, it’s light and crisp on the tongue. Hint of viscosity could help at the end of the taste.
Overall this is a definite favorite of the style. Had this beer with chorizo kale soup. Amazing combo. Definitely will have this one again.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Los Angeles, Ca - Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Medium copper pour, soft off-whitehead that sticks around a while, nice bubble action. Aroma has some fresh lake water accents, a hint of olive oil, some light date actions. Flavor has a light citrus bent to it, some light toffee sweetness, a bit of nuttiness in the back end. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Pretty nice.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A careful pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a long lasting, three-finger thick, dense, tan colored head, that leaves lots of lacing, and slowly subsides with a very structural varied, mesa forming head; you can’t ask for much more in the appearance of a beer. The beer is a nice, red-stained copper color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright copper hue when held up to the light. The nose has a warm biscuit like maltiness, a flint like hop character, a soft citrus / berry like hop character, and lots of floral / nectar like notes, and a spicy, whole grain cracker like malt character. The nose is quite appetizing, fresh, and very inviting.
Lightly sweet up front, there is a solid prickly carbonation, as well as a bitter hop bite to this beer. There is a flint like edge to the hop character here, and herbal, not quite menthol like edge / bite, and a noticeable citrus character that when coupled with the malt provides a berry like flavor towards the finish. The malt character plays a prominent role as well; sweet caramelized grain notes, lots of English biscuit character. The body has a nice malty fullness to it that is not too heavy, this is still quite quaffable, but has a bit of meat to it, and I can see it pairing well with food.
A fantastic version of the style. This is fresh, and much better than Anchor steam this far from the source in San Francisco (I haven’t had a great, fresh Anchor steam in years as it doesn’t travel well).

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap at Eureka Burger in Claremont as "Citizen’s Lager". Good white lacing from a light orange pour. Nose is sweet orange and cinnamon apple. Getting more like old apple juice as it warms. Lightly sticky body with mild bitterness. Herbal, harsh hops mix with sticky cinnamon apple. Papery palate. Not really doing it for me, but then again this style is inherently messed up. Not a quenching lager.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured clear light copper color with an average white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate hop and sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear orange pour with a white head. Aroma of bread, toast, and orange peel. Some floral hops, grass, and maybe a touch of caramel. Sweet flavor up front with toast, bread, and some caramel. Orange peel, light floral notes, and a grassy bitterness on the finish. Maybe a bit buttery as it warms up.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber to snifter (thanks Tmoney99). Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent orange with white lacing. Smells doughy, pleasantly skunky, and a little hoppy. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear gold in color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is malty, creamy and crisp with very little hop. Sweet malt flavor with a crisp grassy hop finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap. Mostly hazy orange-amber color. Thin white head, decent lace. Medium to bigger body, pretty full for the ABV. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Bready, bitter, slight metallic and not over-sweet taste of a lager, and ample but light fruitiness of an ale - satisfying amount of fruity hop here. Lightly toasty malt. An interesting and well-done California Common, if I’ve ever had one. Seems like a good example of the style.
