COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the coulter big cone pine tree is a well balanced I.P.A. It brings the style of I.P.A. back to its roots. Brewed with a hint of rye for head retention and a deeper malt character, this brew has the best of all worlds, great hop aroma, a strong body and deceiving strength.

Overall very solid IPA, hoppy and bitter but worth it in every way. At Venice ale house on tap

16oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a full nearly creamy head of tan foam. Right when I pop the top my aromatic senses are assaulted by garlic and shallots and onion dank hoppy goodness. Upon further inspection the dankness doesn’t seem as bold and I also pick up thin snippets of citrus hops. The taste is similar, yes I say, as I get a nice mix of dank earthy shallot like hop flavor and bitterness with a flash of citrus too. It moves into being progressively more bitter midway and into the finish enhancing the experience. This is nice stuff with pleasing balance between hop bitterness, hop flavor and a lightly sweet malty body.

Interesting hop aroma, not the typical hop aroma associated with the Cs which is cool. Wasn’t a fan of the palate too much though.

Pint bottle, pours amber with some lacing. Sweet pine nose mixed with citrus. Bitter foward with a mix of malts and grapefruit hops. No flavors are dominate. Clean dry taste and finish. Nothing jumps out at me.

Pours an orangish yellow, quite dark for a WC IPA. Thin head that fades relatively fast. Huge "C" hop aromas pound the nose then assault the mouth on the first sip. This is a great big, massive tasting beer that only clocks in at 6.5%. The mouthfeel is just a little heavy but not overwhelming. Overall this is a great beer super hoppy, with a very dry finish, nicely attenuated. I love every sip.

Nice IPA that hits all the notes of the West Coast style. Good malty backbone, betrayed by the copper pour, with a nice froth. Pine in aroma and what hits you first in taste. This gives way to a lingering bitterness. Not a bad beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16oz capped bottle. Orangish golden with a touch of haze and loose white head. Interesting hop aromatics, smells really like no other ipa that I have had. Mostly just smells like fresh squeezed oj, sweet pine and chewy sweet malt. More malty, some piney hops, some soap, finishes clean enough.

Oranges on the nose grapefruit as well juicy citrus nose. Muted but pleasant. Hazy orange pour thin bubbles not much head. Toasty light biscuit oranges soft sweetness. Light rye. Balanced but kind of muddled. Decent carbonation and balance. Not bad beer by any means just somewhat uninteresting.

Nice 14 karat pour with a dense ivory head. Grapefruit pith, orange peel, and caramel here. Perhaps I would move the caramel/malt/honey-baked biscuit forward on the list...it definitely is more prominent than I would have liked. Not a west-coast IPA, despite their latitude and longitude. still, well balanced and enjoyable.

Pours yellow with lace sheets. Oddly little aroma in my Samuel Adams engineered glass. Medium mouth feel, a little numbing. Reasonable IBU of 65, and good drink ability. Piney hops. Bottle courtesy OCBeerSociety
