COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the coulter big cone pine tree is a well balanced I.P.A. It brings the style of I.P.A. back to its roots. Brewed with a hint of rye for head retention and a deeper malt character, this brew has the best of all worlds, great hop aroma, a strong body and deceiving strength.

On tap at Kulshan, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out ginger, cinnamon and roasted pumpkin. Flavour is thankfully not too dominated by the spices, but they do sort of take over from the subtler base beer. Nice robustness to this and well-balanced - just not a fan of these pumpkin spiced beers. Good for what it is.

Cloudy golden body, white head. Aroma has some floral notes and pines. Bit yeasty. Some grains, some yeast, not so fresh hops in flavour. Bit unbalanced.

500 ml bottle. Pours a copper colour with a small head. Aroma of sweetness, grass and herbs. Flavour of wet hops, biscuit, citrus, strong herbal notes and mild sweetness. Medium bodied. Dry, bitter, herbal finish. Enjoyable.

500 ml bottle. From alesbymail.co.uk.
Cloudy amber golden colour with a huge frothy off-white head. Airy and gluey aroma with piney hops, mild bitterness and some sweetish maltiness. Quite dry though. The flavour is piney hops and moderate bitterness. Very slick. The flavour really comes and goes. Nothing to grab to. Easy for a 7.2% IPA. Not my favourite.

50 cl bottle.
Pours clear amber color with a large head, leaves a nice lacing on the sides. Mandarin and orange peel first thing on the nose, floral hops, slightly grassy and herbal, some grapefruits there too. Grapefruits and orange dominate the flavor, slightly resinous hops, pale malts and faint caramel on the finish. Nice bitterness, feels refreshing and has some interesting nuances. Tasty.

Bottle split at Leightons cloud house, thanks to Foigus, 02/09/14. Lightly hazed golden with a well appointed off white covering that retains. Nose is light plastic, bitter orange, pale malt, straw, tangerine. Taste comprises citric sherbets, grass, earthy hops, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Plastic burps ensued. So so - the plastic nose lets this one down and the hops were pretty limited.

Sample at Pint House. Pours a cloudy pale amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of mildly spicy hops, roast malt and fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Bottledog, King’s Cross, London. Hazy dark gold colour with large frothy white head. Aroma of citrus orange, pine, marmalade. Flavours are nicely balanced malts, citrus hops, pine, resin. Nice medium, foamy and smooth mouthfeel. Some alcohol. Long light hoppy bitter finish. Impressive.

Bottle shared at Leightons house. From bottledog. Golden orange coloured pour with a thin white head. Aroma is hockey ball plastic, hop resin, spicy orange. Flavour is light caramel, tangy orange peel, tropical fruit, light metal. Assertive smooth bitterness, touch of resin. Palate is medium bodied, highish carbonation. Decent.

Scopey (7054) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 2, 2014
Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours clear orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is soft orangey citrus, marmalade, piney resin and sweet plastic. The taste is crisp, bitter, pine, light resin, lemon peel, some alcohol, plastic and metallic notes with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. No real depth. A bit plasticy...
