COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the coulter big cone pine tree is a well balanced I.P.A. It brings the style of I.P.A. back to its roots. Brewed with a hint of rye for head retention and a deeper malt character, this brew has the best of all worlds, great hop aroma, a strong body and deceiving strength.

This beer starts with a nice white head that laces the glass well. The aroma is a little lacking not too much of a nose. The taste is nice. Hoppy up front with a well balanced malty character on the back end. The color is a beautiful light amber. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful copper orange body with a fluffy white head that sticks around for a few sips. Nose of Caramel, vanilla, orange zest and grapefruit. nice creamy body, with flavors of orange peel, lemon, and a big grapefruit finish. Finish is a flood of citrus bitterness that lingers a bit too long for my taste. Drop the IBUs a touch or up the caramel malt and I’d say this is perfect.

StormCoat (103) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 1, 2012
Picked up a 1-pint bottle at Bi-Rite Market in San Diego. Pours a ruddy copper color with a fairly light and short-lived white head. Aroma is very subtle and sweet, like honey with a tea-like or herbal undercurrent. Flavors are more forward with pine, citrus, and brown sugar flavors, but most notable is the very long and bitter finish. Body is interesting in that it feels over-medium when I first take a sip, but thins out abruptly into the bitterness. I would say that this beer might be too flatly bitter for some, but overall I find it to be quite a serviceable little IPA.

Medium orange with a nice off white foam. Low hop aroma of pine and flowers. Light body and low carbonation level. Flavor is moderate pine and resin with some spice. Malt plays a good supporting role. Finish is dry with a good spice finish.

Hazy red-orange pour with an off-white head. The aroma is mostly pine, but also has some citrus notes. It has a medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, and a pleasant bittersweet taste.

Draft at Imbibe Wine. Nose is citrus and lighter amounts of pine. Lightly hazy copper with a medium cream head. Flavor is bitter as all IPAs should be with piney, grapefruit notes sneaking through from the nose.

Bottle: Pours a hazy amber with a medium head. I see good lacing as the glass goes down. The Aroma is moderate in intensity with mostly pine character. The taste is okay with nothing jumping out one way or another. The palate is medium with a nice balance which is maybe a little heavy for a standard IPA. Overall this is a decent IPA but there are many better.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours clear copper with a foamy frothy off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit and resin. Med body or better. Flavor is a soft malt backbone with a decent load of grapefruit and resin. Sort of on the road to NW, but not too close. The rye is perceptible and the hop is very nice. If it’s time for IPA, this could be a good choice.

On draft at Bru. Pours a copper color with minimal head. Disappointing minimal aroma, taste is grapefruit, pine, with a little bitterness, pretty good, standard ipa.
