Almost clear dark red - amber beer. small pale tan head. Palate is light, crisp and semi dry. A mellow Flemish sourness, not at all acid and none of the red wine kind of tang you might expect. Little caramel underneath. Touch of soy. Light airy finish. Pretty mellow.

Well, they call this a flemish red, but it doesn’t really resemble any true flemish I’ve had. Maaaaaybe the cheaper ones. More of a soft palate, less acidic, with a distinct sweet and sour character in the nose and flavor. Very sessionable, and a pleasant beer, but this is a tough style, and it’s below average there

On tap at the Barrel Republic. Appearance: Deep red-brown with a semi-durable head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma: very fruity and somewhat tart, with a suggestion of lambic ale. Flavor: Mild-moderate tartness; loads of hop flavor; some appreciated medium and sweet malt balance. Bitterness peak mid-taste rather than in hte finish or aftertaste. Feel: Light-medium body with good carbonation. Slightly astringent. O: Good introductory or session Flanders Red.

Sample at Daily Growler. Murky reddish-brown color with a medium thin foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sour fruits and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of tart fruit, vinegar and earthy malt. The finish is soapy and sour with a fruity aftertaste. Missed the mark, pretty average overall.

Meh...I always thought sour meant good but this wasn’t that good. Worst part was the aroma. There was a slight sulfur smell with notes of burnt malt. Pour was a nice enough dark red with a one finger off white head. Taste was like a weak sour beer. Good, but not as intense or flavorful as most. Sour cherry, cardboard, vinegar and sour candy are the big flavors. Nice strong carbonation keeps the beer alive. Sour finish. As it warmed the sourness came out more.

5oz tap at the Daily Growler. Deep brown pour with minimal off-white head. Aroma of light apple and funk. Tastes are dark fruit, grape, green apple, vinegar - everything a little weak, including the sour.

Pours muddy brown with an ecru head. Aroma has some slight grapey sweetness, bland bready malt. Flavor lacks the tartness the style requires, opting instead for a slightly roasty malty base with a bit of grape and cherry.

>> Cloudy orange pour with weak foam. Nose is sweet, big off flavors of extreme sweet popsicle, massive sugar. Taste is sour, fairly clean at first, salty, but then goes dusty, lime, papery, harsh.
