330ml bottle at DOC, Melbourne. This one ticks all the boxes for a decent stout with roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and perhaps traces of nuts and raisins on the nose and palate. Finishes dry and bitter with a subtle saltiness. Medium body with clean velvety mouthfeel. Pours opaque black with medium beige head.

Medium/light body and medium high carbonation.

Undated bottle from Belmont Station with an English back label glued over an Italian one. Deep chocolate brown body with a rich mocha colored head. Faint cocoa, tar and soy sauce black malt. Dry egg shell sulfuric aroma. Dry cheese and sweat sock and balsamic vinegar isovaleric acid. Campfire ash. Burnt resin. Over-smoked vegetables and barbecue burnt ends. Soy sauce saltiness, astringent charred grain husks, texture and sourness of sour cream similar to what you see when lactic acid is used poorly. Watery black malt and burnt brussel sprout finish.

Drink it easily. Good flavour and lot of foam for a dark beer that you can drink easily

Bottle: Black color, brown, creamy head. Sourly, roasty aroma with hints of cacao and coffee. Flavor is malty, roasty, good sourness, cacao powder, coffee beans. Nice, if you don’t have to smell it.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2013 Bottle in DOC. Very tasty. Aromas of caramel and liquorice, hints of apple. Taste starts sweet, with sour notes and bitterness taking over for a long finish; much better once it warms up. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Black, with a frothy head.

Bottle form Domus Birrae. Pours very dark brown/black with a creamy darkish tan head. Bacon aroma. Near med body. Flavor is smooth dark malt that’s lightly bacon smokey and perhaps lightly bitter. Nice.

Bottle, bb 1/12. Slow pour yields an inch of black and six of light tan head. (Later) - Aroma of nut oil, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt. Mouthfeel is at first undrinkably overcarbonated but comes good eventually and is quite oily. Taste has quite a lot of roasted bitterness with cocoa and some coffee. There’s a little plummy sweetness as well as a little apple sourness. Roasted bitterness with tobacco and licorice at the end. Pretty good once it settled.

Bevuta in bottiglia da 37,5 cl. Colore molto scuro con schiuma troppo abbondante di grana media molto persistente di color cappuccino. Profumi di frutta matura e legno, al palato un filo di acidità che lascia a sentori di frutta matura e ad una lunga liquirizia per un finale gradevolmente amaro. Nota negativa un eccesso di carbonazione.
