On tap at the Oasis. Brewed according to the original Old Style recipe. I’ll drink it to help the cubs win , but not for the taste.

Straw yellow with a large head that fades away faster than I can type this sentence. Aroma is sweet, grassy and adjuncted, hello pale lager. I guess I’m a sucker for my home states clicks, so for 39 cents I couldn’t pass this one up. Thin, corny, metallic, grassy and sweetly malted with a touch of honey, this reminds me of my younger days when I’d buy the cheapest beer I could find. It’s better than the beers those a-holes brew at Miller Coors who are pushing to thwart the craft beer movement in Wisconsin (along with the jackass we voted in as governor).

Contrary to rumors posted all over the internet, this is not the original recipe for Heilman’s Old Style, although it’s brewed at the same place. The only reason you will want to try this is because it’s cheaper than other 30-packs of canned beers you despise. Pours a normal yelow with very little head. Aroma is full of corn and sour apples, with a slight metallic aftertaste.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 GeneralGao (3545) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUL 17, 2006
Draught at George’s Buffet in Iowa City, IA. Clear golden color with bubbly white head. Dilute cereal grain aroma with a sprucy, metallic note that presumably comes from the hops. Flavor follows the aroma with the addition of light corn and a pleasant hint of malty caramel at the end if you breath out through your nose. This beer was overcarbonated in my opinion.
1.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Optigon (562) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUL 5, 2007
Deep Yellow color, clear, with no head. No aroma with a very light flavor. Somewhat sweet and soapy in flavor, with a moderate mouth feel.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 PorterPounder (4107) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 4, 2004
24 oz industrial sized can. Wet paper bag aroma, very pale light golden appearance, soapy white head. Has somewhat of a metallic flavor with a little bit of honey sweetness thrown in the back end. The can says that it is "Fully Kraeusened" - what the hell does that mean? Not much going on here - City Breweyr seems to be content with brewing second rate beers.

Corn-yellow/gold beer; somewhat fluffy off-white head, not very stable. Metallic-grassy nose, even a bit like sewage water - otherwise said, pretty unappetizing. Unpleasant, slightly lemony-sour and very metallic taste, plus a flavour as from decaying grass. light, watery, fizzy, but the aggressive flavour keeps coming. Ugh! Txs to DavidA - I guess ;^}

A step up from old style. pours a little darker then urine yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly goes away. Basically water with a kick.

12oz can. Nothing special here. Plain, ol, basic, lager from the Heartland of the USA. I’m glad it was free.
