Polypin@Real Ale opening. A very solid bitter. Dry, malty, with light toffee and grainy flavours. Subtle, balanced, with some light bitterness, drinkable stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Golden with a small head. Aromas are sweet juicy and very hoppy - nice. Flavours are soft malts with citrus and more lucious hops. Very moreish. Good stuff.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Hand pumped at the Anchor, Birmingham. Yellow/brown - no head. Faint aroma of honey and lemon. Some fruit amongst the soft, bitterish flavour. Undoubtedly subtle, but in this case I thought it became bland. Nothing in particular here.

An extremely palatable golden ale with bags of hops throughout. Not too complex but slips down very easily. Cask (handpump), Cambridge Blue, Cambridge.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London.
Light golden blonde ale with an attractive fine white lacy head. Sulphurous aroma and gorgeous light fruity flavour. This beer went down an absolute treat. Back to back City of Cambridge at the Wenlock Arms, I’ve noticed some other City of Cambridge brews at the Market Porter on the Saturday as well, but alas was unable to stop. 5 rates at the Market Porter on Friday, 5 more potential rates at the Market Porter on Saturday, and 5 rates at the Wenlock Arms yesterday (Sunday). You’ve just got to love London!?

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[Cask at GBBF 2003] The aroma is very hoppy. The color is light amber and it has a small bubbly disappearing head. The flavor starts on a hoppy note turning straw-malty and slightly sweet. It ends on a great aroma hop note with a slight dry bitterness.
