2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear golden with a big white frothy head that is quckly discipating. Nose is strong and sharp taste is just about the same but more grains are present. Not bad, but there is some strange aftertaste that I just cant put my finger on.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2005 Goldish hue with good size head. Smells of malt and caramel to me. Not picking up a lot of other aromas. Taste is mostly caramel up front and citrus in the finish. Lacking hops for an APA. Too bready and malty, bleh!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bought this one at the Brewers Game @ Miller Park. Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of caramel and citrus (oranges). Light to medium sweet. Thinner body.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I had this on draft yesterday and it is far better that way than in bottles. To wit: It had a nice foamy, textured head with lots of clingy lace. The color was a lovely golden hue. Had very fresh and clean aromas mainly of hop and a hint of yeast and some carmel malt. The taste was very nicely balanced. It very definitely a session beer and must be a hallmark in the production of the City Brewery here in La Crosse. I understand there are slightly more bittering units than in the legendary Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I like this one better and I WANT MORE!!! Hurrah for this Upper Mid-West Pale Ale!!! Had this one yesterday at the Bodega.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brightish honey gold color with a strange crusty top that looks like a frosted white dried sponge that was once grey. Lacing in minimal webbings.
Aroma is of a dry hopped woodish aspect, dry and clean with notes of cardboard and a touch of caramel.
Taste is more of the same, not withstanding much hop profile other then a dry hopped dryish wood and cardboard thing. Mild bite is noticeable though. Itís not bad but not really all that good either. Clean yet dull and a small caramel backing scraps across with some much needed sweetness.
Feel is thinnish and working towards medium, clean but flat, as it warms it becomes nealry undrinkable. Carbonation doesnít keep well it seemed.
Slightly above average here, and thats being generous. Perhaps a fresher sample would suffice as the sample pack I got as a gift states that the City Pale won a bronze at the 2004 World Beer Championship?
