Pale amber pour with a sticky white head. The nose is a little bit earthy with a kiss of diacetyl on the nose as well. Some fairly earthy/musty hoppiness. The hops have a touch of spice as well. Decent balance with a light malty sweetness and a touch of toastiness on the back. It’s a pretty decent, if decidely simple, English pale ale.

Bottle at Tony’s, thanks to Tony or DW I believe, 19/05/13. Clear reddish amber with a thin beige head. Nose is toffee, biscuit, mineral notes. Taste comprises caramel malt, straw, bread dough, biscuit bite, light fruit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. A truly ’whelming’ beer, assume the classic formation 6-3-6-3-12!

Sample at Black Bear Saloon in BDL. The beer pours a clear amber color with a thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Grainy malt and hops in the nose. Light body with flavors of toasted malt, hops and caramel. The finish is sweet with a bready malt aftertaste. Average overall.

That lactic character again mesmerizes the light hoppiness into hiding...Uninteresting low carbonation for the style makes the absence of hops even more noticeable...Caramel filaments try to give it some oomph but fail miserably...Maybe I visited on a very bad day?...
