1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle: Poured a low yellow color lager with a medium size pure white foamy head with medium retention and some light lacing. Aroma of grainy cereal with some overcooked vegetable notes. Taste is dominated by some unrefined cereal notes with some overcooked vegetables. Body is light with good carbonation. Weird notes of overcooked vegetables don’t really help me enjoy this beer.

Not really that bad for a pale lager, honestly just bought this can because it was from Romania but its less bad than I thought. You can almost taste a touch of hops...

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Following my Romanian wife into the world of "wonderful" Romanian beer. Pours pale yellow with a small white head that dissipates quickly with some residual lacing. Aroma is grain, hay, corn syrup. Flavor is about the same, a bit of green apple. Lightly sweet, light grassy bitter finish. Not bad for a pale lager.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
0.5l can (5%, 11.5°) courtesy of a friend who lugged it halfway through the Balkans from Romania (huge thanks, Krešimir!)
After two beers of dubious "quality", this. Poured a pale, slightly gilded yellow colour with a small white head that went away fast. The nose was a bit better on this one, dusty malt, light hop and alcohol. The taste started out as light and sweetish, subdued, with pretty much nothing there except some grainy malt. And then the skeletons started coming out of the closet. Corn, alcohol, metal, acidic appley hopiness, all showing up at times and then disappearing soon leaving the maltiness to fight with the next off flavor. It developed a bitter aftertaste at a point but hey. This mess couldn’t be saved by anything. Crap. After three beers of dubious "quality"...

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can from Istanbul Supermarket, Smethwick. Notes of cinder toffee. Other notes of cellophane wrapping, perhaps enclosing some flowers, which are being taken to a brassy paramour at work. Always a bit risky making a move on someone at work. Anyway, this Romanian lad is friskily fizzy, urbanely crisp and sheet ice-like; coupled with a hesitation of coco malt. The flavours are confidently low-key (i.e. there isn’t that much flavour). But blow me, this is delicious - it tastes like that beer in Ice Cold in Alex - well earned. 3000 rates is nonsense of course - a meaningless milestone. And yet, oh and yet, it’s also a chance to reassess one’s life progress. And this is where I am - live tweeting a can of Romanian Lager. Whisper it, but I think I just might have ’made it’. Top of the World, Ma.
