A good looking dark stout this one with roasted coffee/earthy aroma. Fairly thick with a light brown head that is retained down the glass. Champion beer of Belfast 2010. Chocolate malt flavors preside giving way to a mellow finish and caramelised malt aftertaste.

Instant hint of nutty, chocolatey taste. Lighter than most stouts. Dark brown colour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask@GBBF2011. Black colour, small head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoked wet wood, mild non-sweet syrupy notes as well as some mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is very similar with some mild freshly cut wooden notes and resin as well.

Nice dark brown. Thin head. The aroma is chocolatey and cookieish. Soft, smooth and very chocolatey, with a lightly fruity character and a vague whiff of smoke in the finish.

Nice Nutty, chocolate malt aroma. Dark colour with thin head. Light in body, good flavour though with a decent coffee aftertaste. Stout is one of my favourite styles and this is quite a well made one.

Cask (GBBF2011, Friday)
Lovely milk chocolatey aroma. Rich roasty body, smooth and milky palaye. Gentle burntness, very tasty. Some gentle stale coffee in the finish. Anna thinks the finish is more chocolatey, but for me it’s milky coffee.

Bottle @ Bull & Castle. Opaque black with soft natural head. Aroma is rich unroasted coffee cherries, black licorice, and molasses. Chocolate, roasted malt, lingering toasty coffee beans. Soft gentle palate with mild carbonation. Lingering aftertaste of coffee beans. Very nice.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Near black. Dry and smoky. Decent chocolate notes on the nose and palate with a little stewed coffee. Conspicuously accomplished and extremely satisfying. Mnouthfeel is maybe a touch light.
