4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This was by far my favorite beer at this brewery. I am a hop head, so this got my attention. This beer is the perfect balance of hops and roast that I have been looking for in this style. BE careful though...it is 9.1% and you would never know it by tasting it. Well done Claremont Craft Ales.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at CCA. Clear deep red pour, webby beige lace. Green olive explosion in the nose. As it warms, it goes to more mild green olive, some roast, soy, and savory steak. Improvement. Taste has plastic, booze, moderate bitterness, and some roast. Actually a decent effort. Palate is bitter, roasty, but there is some gritty oat bran in there and overall the beer is still watery.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler. Rating #3. Real nice aroma, lots of pine and mild roastiness. Dark black color with a big tan head with some great lace left on the glass. Big roast and hop bite right up front, the roast lingers through the finish quite a bit with the rye spicing it up as well. Not bad. (2696)

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown in color with a khaki colored head. I get a bit of a body odor aroma up front followed by pine, grapefruit peel, rye, and molasses. There’s some roasted malt, a mild toffee sweetness, and a hint of coffee. The flavor is similar to the aroma, though lacking the body odor quality. Some pine bitterness, a moderate grapefruit, and roasted malt. A decent amount of rye, some sweet toffee, and a hint of molasses. Subtle chocolate and coffee flavors in the background as well.
