Cask (gravity dispense) at Egham Beer Festival, November 2012. More amber than red. Interesting choice of styles for an early beer for a new brewery. I didn’t think it quite came off. Quite chewy malt with rather subtle smoke. Not really ballsy enough to generate much of a wow factor. The underlying beer was fruity and, again, a bit understated. Seemed to fall rather between two stools - I know balance is fine & dandy ’n’ all but I tend to prefer smoked beers that are more in your face.

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Mar 2013 - Clear Reddish Brown in colour. Malty; sweet toasty malts, caramel, quite smoky. Fruity; sweet orange citrus. No trace of hop bitterness. Very sweet malty fruity smoky throughout. OK. Drinkable.

Cask (gravity) @ Microbar, Market Hall, Arndale Centre, Manchester, Greater Manchester, England M4 2HU.

Clear medium amber orange color with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, meat, smoke, plastic. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet meat, plastic, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130125]

Cask @ Shrewsbury Beer Festival 2013. Has a good amount of smokey bonfires and ash, with a nice maltiness and a touch of hops. Better than the smokey Pressure Point brew I had recently but still not quite hitting the mark.

Cask at Crown and Anchor. Pours a hazy amber with a thin head. The smoke is slightly noticeable in the aroma alongside a biscuit maltiness. Light body, mild carbonation. It's definitely smoky, some toffee too and a hint of prunes. OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask gravity, Coventry BF, 27/04/13. Red amber with a reluctant halo. Bonfire, stubble burning aroma. Smoked hay, cream cheese and German sausage suggestions. Genuine smoke mingling with red berry. Good.

Cask @ Charles Lamb. The pour’s deep red with a small off-white head. The nose is smoked ham. General grains, rye bread. A bit of chocolate and caramel. Some red berry. The taste is more smoke. Light earthy hops. Fat malt body. Fine carbonation. Overall, not my thing.

Cask, gravity at Redditch Beer Festival,Worcestershire.Hazy light amber to gold pour with a minimal off white head.Smoked malt nose.Taste of medium sweet peat malt with a background of smoke.Well balanced with a dry finish making a different and tasty beer and one which i think will get a lot of differing views.

Cask at tbe White Swan, JDW, London. Pours. Lear gold with a tight, off-white crown. Pale smoked malt nose, some minerals. Light to medium sweet flavor, lots of minerals, pale smoked malts, cheap ham. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good and smokey to finish, fairly well balanced, more mInerals, light ham, white bread, hints of herbs. Actually a pretty decent smoked beer. I would have no trouble burying a few pints of this stuff.
