Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in May 2005. Clear pale straw in colour with a thin white head. Cask, handpump dispense. Slight citrus fruit in the short aroma. Resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives digestive biscuit notes with gooseberries and clemantine fruit. Hop resins in the aftertaste give dusty floral notes which combine well with the malt. The finish is slighlty dry and tart with pink grapefruit notes. A good summer session ale.

Cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford Did not appear to be quite ready to be on yet, needed some time to settle. Good malts on nose and in mouth with rich fruit on th etongue. Finish is hoppy and effervescent. Would be bettter the day after I suspect

Cask Conditioned, at The Waterhouse, Manchester. Risk brown colour with a beige, patchy head. Sweet fruity flavours, sharpish but with no genuine length. The palate is accordingly dull.

Not much to say really, a good sort of alround beer for a sesson, but no distintive flavours, the usual hoppy, malty, floural taste. however nothing stood out. I was expecting it to be much darker, hence brunette, was more darkened golden. Not bland as such, but could do with a kick of something. Try it sometime to understand. Wetherspoon - kirky puffer (beer festival may 05)

More mousy brown than brunette I’d say. Not particularly dark. Sparse head. Mild fruity aroma with just a hint of citrus. Sweetish and quite soft, wit a malt base. There’s something a bit citric in the flavour too, but its more like lemonade than lemon juice. Pleasant enough, but low bitterness leaves this perhaps lacking in attack. Cask (handpump), Willow Walk (JDW), May Beer Festival, Victoria, London SW1.

imdownthepub (7473) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 12, 2005
Cask Coditioned at The Olde Reinedeer, Banbury. Dark Amber to brown with bubbly white head. Hoppy floral aroma leading to a good bodied, sl sweet, fragrant hoppy dark bitter. Plenty of fruity malts giving good mouthfeel, some plum and elder, but the dominating taste is a fresh clean hop note. Not very bitter, just a clean drinking session beer. Very nice.
