Cask; Regular.
The summer cask ale with a sting!" A delightful golden coloured premium fruity ale. It has a hoppy nose aroma complemented by a full hop aftertaste.

Cask handpulled at County Hotel JDW Ashford. Orange/gold colour. Quite a nice honey beer, not too sweet. White lasting head, not a lot of aroma, ok in mouth with honey notes with a honey/hop dry finish. Pleasant and some spice.

Tasted this in the Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2005. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Impressive sweet aroma of orange oil and ovaltine. Smooth mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives robust juicy flavours of sweet creamy clementines full in the mouth. Slight floral hop notes in the not too dry aftertaste. Finish has a warming alcoholic kick of Cointreau and sweet brandy snaps. An excellent golden ale. This is powerful stuff for a session - so be warned this is so so easy to drink a few. Highly recommended.

Another hoppy summer ale. A little boring. Not flattered by McSpoons.

Wetherspoon beer festival. Aroma is sulphery, however slight honey and hoppy notes manage to make it reasonably bearable. Taste is full and sweet with orange and maybe the sweetness is coming from floural hoppy honey, longish sweet finish. Not really my style of ale, and not really a session beer either, not bad however.

Cask (handpump), Penderel’s oak, Holborn. Deep gold colour. Not much head - just a collar round the glass. Some floral notes on the nose but obscured by a heavy diacetyl presence. More butterscotch in the flavour. Soft, with a low hop profile and not much bitterness. Hints of lemony citrus. Some dryer malt comes into play on the finish and there’s a lasting aftertaste that (curiously, given the lack of bite earlier) becomes increasingly bitter. Don’t know whether it was intended to be like this but some of the elements are definitely not what you want, or expect, in a golden ale. Can’t say I really picked up the honey.

JDW Victoria Station. Very fresh and gulpable. Pleasant melon & mangoe playing around with earthy bits and sulphur and a dryish pale malt. Reaches for the stars - but some muddled bits are keeping it in the gutter. Parts are better than the whole.
